As a retiree I have said I don't do anything for money as if I was trying to make money I would go broke. However in December a lady whose father had been a woodworker had passed away was making a pair of nightstands that he hadn't finished (Woodsmith Bedroom Set Oak NIghtstand WS20814) so I volunteered. It's taking me awhile to do as I am not fond of this style but more fone of the Woodsmith Cherry Bedside Table WB26534 that I built. Fortunately he had bought all the wood and prepared most of it. It's taking a lot longer than I expected and this is free work.

The pricing question always has seemed to be a tough one to consider. There are so many factors that go into it beyond just cost in your local area. I am a hobbyist and enjoy the craft on the side. It is not a job for me. So the amount i could charge would vary wildly from the "side hustle' people or the "making a living" people. Its a question that seems to come up for every KZbin woodworking channel, but most of the channels are either getting out of doing custom work or were hobbyists to begin with.

Great show as always guys. John needs a new mic, he sounded like he was talking into a fish bowl, lol.

I would defend the original design of mortise and tenons and dados rather than a cheapen design of pocket screws and biscuits.
