Design Notebook is amazing. Showcasing builds, bringing them to the fore. It will sell plans for sure. Please make it a regular thing. If semi-weekly you’d take decades to run out of projects.

This flocking technique is probably the simplest way to cover up any of the rough imperfections left from the band saw. Plus, we just take any excuse we can to use the word "flocking"... Sorry. :)

At 1:30 you state that CBN wheels wear out. To my understanding is that compared to regular wheels they don’t wear out, or at least have a very very long life by comparison.

I have a couple of ECE planes, a Primus smoother and a block plane, both w/Lignum soles. They are a bit tricky to figure out, but the smoother is terrific when it’s dialed in (and kept SHARP); I like it a lot. The block plane is… clunky, and has a wide, non-adjustable mouth, so it hasn’t inspired me much yet (I like my old Stanley 9-1/2 a lot better). I’m a PW Magazine subscriber, but only discovered the podcast yesterday. Looking forward to getting to know you guys and your podcast! Chuck LaFont

I built this sled and experienced the problem that garrettswoodworx1873 mentioned. The small parts get trapped between the stop block and blade, then chip the edge and fly off the sled, almost every time. I think my solution will be to cut the stop block side of the fence completely off and attach it to the drop off side, farther back from the drop off ramp. Bump the piece to cut against it and then slide forward into the blade, therefore no trapping. I just need to ensure that the piece is held firmly against the fence so that it doesn't move after touching the stop block.

I inherited some of this from my wife's grandfather. I haven't used it much, but I used it once in a strange application and it is still working, much to my surprise. I needed some counterweights for a temporary video screen that I made out of PVC pipe. In the feet, I put in some gravel and then I poured in some putty to keep the gravel in place. I really didn't think the putty would stick to the pipe, but it's been in their for years and still works perfectly. Thanks for showing me some other applications. I'll have to dig out the can and try it again.

Hi, thanks for the great Video & Sled design. I've been searching & looking at endless numbers of sled designs and yours is by far the best I've seen & love all the features! I'm a 70 yr old novice when it comes to table saws & recently bought a SawStop I absolutely love. Is there anywhere or possibly a way I could purchase the plans already reversed that would be drawn for my left tilting blade? Unfortunately I have a hard enough time concentrating on simple original drawn plans without making mistakes and would love to have your plans already converted for left tilt. Thanks, Jim

Ouch ... I think Logan's pictures or BS comment is a reflection on finishing cabinet doors and drawers for an office somewhere ... maybe ... OK, I'll try to get pictures sooner than later. LOL. Regarding two table saws ... here's a random thought ... considering how much Logan likes having multiple lathes and how much y'all love Shopsmith - kill 2 birds with one stone - set up the Shopsmith for dados and lathe work - it would be a quick change over from one function to the other, relatively small foot print, especially compared to another PCS and at a much lower cost! I might be able to help hook you up with one ... 😁

I agree about the changing of the blades and brakes on the Sawstop, great tool but Pain in the butt. Now really considering a second one to do as Logan suggested to dedicate one to the ripping and crosscut and one to the dado blade.

But would you attach them together? Or arrange them separately.
@jimcarroll1005
@jimcarroll1005 13 күн бұрын
I would do as you say, join them together and even consider the router attachment , You could lose one of the wings in between them so not to make it too long. my main issue is that I use the incra fence at the moment so may take a bit of reorganization on that part but I think doable. Overall using less workspace and combining all together . Its not like you use the table saw and the router at the same time.@@WoodsmithShowandmagazine

Right on, Phil. 70 year old woodworker here who learned about Durahm's from my father. Only thing for painted projects. When I was very young we used to actually mold the animal figures like it shows on the can. Like to find an older container. "Rocky" used to be way cooler.

Ive been meaning to comment, but Logan, if you're looking for a great machining channel...especially manual machining...check out Brandon at Inheritance Machining here on the Tubes. He's a great teacher and very talented. Nothing against Mr. Pete, he's excellent too. As to the letters, I had hoped that Phil might have responded to the comments about advertising with "This is Woodsmith 2.0 the Search for More Money."

In all seriousness, i think having the luxury of space to have 2 table saws is the dream i would think having them back to back to act as the out-feed for each other. but, a close second is having them side-by-side in the wing of a larger saw

I have a can of that stuff in my workshop that is at least 60 years old. I know that because I was four years old when I watched my Dad use it to patch a hole my Mom burned into our laminate kitchen countertop. I have kept it all these years for nostalgia, but never used it. The label looks ancient, and i dont think it has changed. Sometime last year I had a need for some filler, and I recalled how durable that patch done by my very un-handy Dad was. It looked like crap but it lasted for as long as my parents owned that house. Its the first time I ever used it, and it worked perfectly for my need.

I have been using Durham's for many years, for many of the reasons Phil mentions. I would add, it's not only for painted surfaces! I have made several of my tool stands with a darker wood and for contrast, birch dowels to fill the pocket holes. In those hard to reach areas, I use Durham's to fill the holes. I use a transparent finish, and you cannot tell the difference between the birch dowels and the water putty. Easy to work with, apply, and sand. Buy it once and it will last you a lifetime. Some people use Bondo, but that will dry out. Also, the only product to use for glazing old windows, in my opinion. Everyone needs a can of Durham's.
