21:25-The Boston nautical style brass thermometer is from Chelsea Clock Company in either Boston or Chelsea, MA. They can recalibrate the thermometer and replace the bezel glass. “Boston” is not their premium label, but it’s high quality and has very good value. Don’t use Brasso to polish unless the protective clear coating on the brass isn’t there anymore. Nice find. Best, Brian

Are you selling anywhere online where your KZbin subscribers could purchase some of the fantastic finds you show? I keep checking eBay but you are MIA 😫😩😭. I think I could die & go to heaven if only I could go to the church sales & flea markets in your area, wherever that is. Tagging along with you via KZbin is the next best thing, I guess. Your videos make this old lady happy. It’s exciting to watch you discover great finds. Now. . .if only I could buy some of your new treasures 😉😊🤔. I was lucky enough to win some jewelry to add to my collection when you were selling on eBay. Perhaps you might consider a KZbin video sale, maybe like shady ny or soho vintage California ??? Hey, you can’t blame a gal for trying 😀. You’re a good guy Dave. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing

Jewelry wonk alert! I'm sincerely jonesing on a good church sale. Too bad I wasn't there; we could have licked the proverbial platter! 01:33 Afghan I think. The fetish beads looked legit Native American. 04:37 Just bought one of those buckles myself. Their prices are higher than some, but dang they had some stuff. That table of silverplate at about 15:00 had some things I'd have checked just in case. The belts too - went to an estate sale once and was told "oh we don't have jewelry" - and then found two Navajo belt buckles on the floor of a bedroom closet. $10 for the pair. 19:00 for anyone who doesn't know Christophle is a high-end French silverplate manufacturer. Sells for silly money. That jewelry pile at the estate sale looks even better than the church. Not if you have to get swarmed by bees for it though!

DaveI am English, when you talk about a church sale, a flea market, and a car boot sale. how do they correlate to car boot sales,and table top sales? We don’t have estate sales, they look like a good idea.
@livingthegoodlifechannel3 жыл бұрын
Hi. I apologize to Dave and to you for replying, but I know that he receives many comments and cannot reply to them all. To answer to the best of my ability: 1) Church sales aka rummage sales: A fundraising sale inside a church or church parking lot for which the members have donated the items for sale. Proceeds usually raise money for the church (e.g. building fund) or a church activity like a youth group outing. Prices are usually low and there is a broad range of items. 2) Garage sale/yard sale: People sell their own unwanted possessions in their car garage or front/back garden. Prices are also usually low. 3) Flea market: Similar to a car boot sale. They are usually but not always outside (sometimes in a city event center), and the sellers are usually people in the business/resellers. Prices are higher than garage/rummage sales because that is where many of the flea market resellers purchased the stock vs. car boot sales which I understand can be both individuals and professional antique dealers. 4) Estate sale/tag sale: A sale inside a private resident where most of the homeowners possessions are up for sale. Sale can be hosted by a professional company that specializes in these types of sales and takes 30-40% of the proceeds (usually this includes a required minimum amount) or by the family. Estate sales usually happen because the homeowner moved; relocated to an assisted living or nursing home; or died. Family run sales are usually very affordable; company run estate sales are frequently expensive. These type of sales run for 2-4 days, and are 1) day one: full price, no negotiating. 2) day 2: 25% off discount 3) day 3: 50% discount and 4) day 4: 75% discount or fill a bag for $5. The discount schedule changes if the sales days are shorter in length but at the end is when you get the best prices. However, by then, some of the best "finds" may be gone. I hope this explanation helped. Note: We also have auctions and antique shows in the U.S.A.

Why are people using "resale' as a verb? I believe the correct word is "resell."
@susiejakes30193 жыл бұрын
I have noticed that too. Grammar is so poor nowadays. People say 'had went' not the correct 'had gone.' I cringe whenever I hear them. Also, they say, ' I had my hair did' instead of 'I had my hair done.' It's laziness, the fault of some teachers and inattentiveness in classrooms when grammar is taught.
@signeknudsen85133 жыл бұрын
@@susiejakes3019 it really bothers me too and I have to work hard at not correcting people since people can't seem to handle being corrected. Another weird thing is adverbs have disappeared. Why?
@signeknudsen85133 жыл бұрын
@@susiejakes3019 And how about "I seen" rather than "I saw," though I think people use this to identify with the uneducated rather than not knowing better. And seems like the majority of time people don't know when to use they're, their, and there correctly. Yes, they all sound the same but is it any more difficult than learning three different words? Anyway, this is off-topic from Bluebuss Dave's purpose. Sorry.
