Shopping by bike (Short version of Bike Shoppng)

This is a short version of a film with the same name. When Jackie Fristacky, the bike riding mayor of Yarra City, near Melbourne, took an interest, I was inspired to create a version which would have a greater reach. I've collaborated with Jackie before, showcasing her bike activism in my KZbin movie, Councillor on a Bike.
When it comes to bikes as transport, most of the talk, the encouragement, has been for commuting by bike. Yet, for the average non rider, shopping on a bike is a much more practical way to get rolling again.
Moreover, as the film points out, there are new alliances to be formed, with small businesses for example, who can come to see bike traffic as vital to their survival as it often is in Europe.

Our probelms began with the compulsory helment law which came in in 1991. That twisted our bike culture towards sports riders who thought helmets were a good idea. The casual riders to the shops just gave up riding as they got cars and supermarkets got big car parks.

Changed the KZbin filter to see "weekly posts". I bicycle year-round. Seemed only fair to see how people fare during winter. I'm a bicycling enthusiast: pedaling just after I learned to walk at a young age. Now I own a home that has 8 bicycles parked in the garage while the car stays outside on the driveway. Bicycling? Definitely the way to go. Get up. Get out. And ride.

Well done Mr. Rubbo! Funny and interesting to see that one even has to think about cycling as a way of transport instead of only recreational. Here it's just so normal and easy to take a bike to go to the shop, friends, sports locations, etc. etc. As long as it's not too far...

Erm... I do go to the supermarket on a bike, with basket. But then, a weekly shop just for me doesn't need a major cargo carrier.
