Gaming PC and Gaming Laptop with Same Specs cannot be equivalent. Also It's better to buy custom build vs pre built pc because you can choose specific parts and increase performance and can also save some money from unnecessary stuff, Last but not the least building your dream gaming pc is a special experience.

A wait for few more months would have been better because nxt gen cpus and gpus from AMD and NVIDIA are just around the corner and will be way more powerful than this generation....also currently intel holds the crown for best performance in cpu space...however if u just game, u should have gone for the ryzen 7 5800x3D because that is the most powerful gaming processor right now..more frames than ryzen 9 due to 3D-V-cache and also quite cheaper...it's a damn powerful build but not a perfect one...

The 3070 that you have in your laptop is nowhere comparable to the 3070 for desktops. The laptop versions generally achieve approximately half the performance level of the equivalent desktop part.

this is not true at all, my friend has ROG lappy with 3070, it's like 10-20% lower than PC part for a whopping 40-50% less power consumption, but half the performance? Nope. It totally depends on the wattage the GPU is using is laptops. Check benchmarks from various well-known channels.

Threadripper is not for gaming at all. It is mainly for multitasking or server pc. For gaming, You would get better performance with a i3 12th gen than threadripper 3990x. But for workstations threadripper is way better than any cpu on planet.

Harnoor bhai looks is not every thing. That dell Alienware is crap. No ventilation, OS will come with lots of bloatware Non upgradable, and locked bios Custom pc will have bios with much more features and individual parts can be upgraded. Never ever buy prebuilt pc!!!!!

Laptop's RTX3080 uses compact version it does not have same performance as PC's RTX3080. PC's graphic card has way more power and provides way more performance than laptop variant. And about the Alienware pre-built pc you guys saw- Prebuilt PC like those often times have many limitations if you want to change a component in your PC or upgrade after few years, It locks you into that build so its always better to build a PC yourself. Also about the Intel-AMD thing. Intel does produce powerful CPUs but they draw a lot of power and run very hot under load. Majority of people dont need a CPU like intel 12900k. AMD provides better price to performance. My guy you did CS major from Georgia Tech all this is basic stuff you should know about already.

Being a PC gamer and being a software engineer are two completely different things though. I think he is more on the coding side of things than on hardware stuffs. Overall PC gamers (or say, PC enthusiasts), regardless of their background know more about PC related stuffs than any average CS/CE/Software major. Just because you can drive cars well doesn't necessarily make you a motorhead and vice versa.
