I purchase Olive Oil, Coconut Oil and Avocado Oil from Costco...two miles from my house. I used a modified cheese slicer the first year to cut my soaps. My mixing bowls, cups, spatulas...Dollar Store.
@ThermalMermaid5 жыл бұрын
yes, you will get good deals at those box stores too. I thought about adding specifically costco to this but the selection at the store near me is poor. Ironically the RD is right next door!

Just wanted to put it out there if you are close to a Big Lots, they normally carry a 102 fl oz jug of coconut oil for $12, now it is not organic, but it is a great price.
@ThermalMermaid5 жыл бұрын
Yes, 12 cents an ounce. i saw that over Christmas, the only thing is that there is one jar thats been sitting there since October. Great price, if you grab it while its fresh stocked.

@@ThermalMermaid Absolutely. They sell like crazy at our store. I always make sure the expiry date is at least a year out.

@@MayberrySoapCompany That is super interesting to know. I think I'll go talk to the manager next time in in there and ask her about the stock roll at the store I go to. I was hesitant about that item, but if they watch it like you do, then this one beats walmart by 50%. This is a great comment thread! I m a little excited now. haha.

Catriona Aldridge I’m surprised you don’t. They’re everywhere. The problem is they put other stores out of business. Mom and pop shops that been around for ever. At least that is what happened to my area and people I know. I am guilty of buying the low price items. Ain’t going to lie. 😬
@catrionaaldridge6544 жыл бұрын
@@TracyD2 sorry to hear that 🙏.no we would have large discount stores alright. But not for oils and such .We would have a wholesaler store but you would need a business revenue for that store .so I will at some stage get a membership. ☘

This is THE best video of all... besides the essential oil calculator. I think the two go hand in hand though. I used to be a data base administrator so I have only an inkling of an idea of the work involved in pulling this data together. WOW. Thank you for the work you do to make my soaping days easier. Thank you so much.

I made a spreadsheet that calculates everything from your lye to the suggested retail and wholesale price of your bar. Depending on the speed of your computer, mine is slow, it can convert someone else's recipe to percent, resize it to your mold and calculate cost in under a minute. But to do all that I had to calculate shipping also. I definitely agree with the outrageous shipping charge. You wouldn't believe how much it raises the retail cost of your soap. On another note, I have been ordering from them for several years. Small orders and heavy orders. It seems as if their shipping charge changes on a whim. If you order the same weight in bottles the charge will actually be less then if you ordered by boxes?

Thank you for making this video. It has helped me is that I am just wanting to get started in making soaps, body cremes, lotions, natural oils for the face. Can you make a video on where to get organic oils and butter-like Shea and Mango at a reasonable price in bulk, and how to add fragrance oils into the homemade product?
@LadyGecko5 жыл бұрын
Trendy Commodities - It’s going to vary. A place that has a great price per ounce, may have higher shipping and vice versa. Then there is quality and quantity.

Hey i am new to soap making never done it before and i am in the process of obtaining all my molds. I found the large wooden square one on Ebay for 29 (China) and paid 35.00 in fees so for 67.00 it will be here next month. That is half price of what I could get from a supplier. Just saying watch for deals...

I will probably be signing on soon with your site. One thing, you may have said, I don't know, but if you got shopping at Wal mart day after a holiday, look for rubber molds for half price. Or anything to do with a holiday. Amazon carries your Palm oil. IF you buy the 50lb. at 5cents and oz. I think that is what it said, it is $40 something. Doesn't sound bad to me. Here is the thing, always look on Amazon before you go shopping. People with stores, sell all kinds of stuff. I don't buy from Facebook ads, if you go on amazon, you will find the same thing for sale and it will be honest. Facebook ads are bogus sometime. I tell the people please look on amazon. I usually go to the site and find the item first then tell them.
