I love the middle crown because it draws your eye up but doesn’t take away from the other more elaborate trim in the room.

Definitely what I was thinking too. Doesn’t want to be too busy with the textured ceiling, penny tiles etc. Better to let the main features of the room shine.

I like the middle crown sample. There are so many strong, intricate details in the house, and I think the middle sample would compliment those details better since it is more simple. I don't think the size is too big either. The ceilings are tall and the baseboards are large, so I really think the larger crown would be best.

I like the style of the crown sample in the middle better than the one on the right. I think it matches your existing trim better. I understand right by the door with the other trim from around the door it might look big, but what about in the rest of the room where you won’t have so much detail near the ceiling? With such high ceilings a larger trim may look better! What color will the trim be?

With less detail on the moulding it would be easier to dust. Swiffer. Clean.

I also love the middle one. It just flows with the existing trim, imo. It was difficult to see the one on the far right, so it might be a contender, too. The fact that the middle one is painted white may be why everybody is drawn to it. It looks so good with the white existing trim. Obviously we all trust your judgement, so I am sure whichever one you choose will be perfect:) xo

Totally agree…I think the smallest one is cute and will stand out more when it’s not a tiny slice but I automatically went for the middle one too…I do believe it was because it’s white though. The smallest one is understated, classy and cute and in lengths and painted white I believe it will be grand enough 🧐😀😊

Your base boards are large, so I don't think the middle one is too large. If this is going throughout the house, then you should nail them up in the taller ceilings. Last thing you want is for it to look too small throughout the house.

I think the middle one being a bit more simple than the 6” one actually is a good thing. It’s not simple by any means, but less than the 6” one so the baseboards have their place to shine.

I like the larger 7” molding, especially for a 12 ft ceiling. I think if you research crown moldings for the era of your house, you’ll find much wider than common today. Hexagon for 6. I used to love grocery shopping, but now not so much.

I see I wasn't alone in actually liking the middle one 🤣 I agree it looks a bit large in that spot, right above the door and at one of the lowest points in the house, but I think it will be the right size for the majority of the house, and it has the right amount of detail to fit in with the existing trim without trying to take the spotlight away from the original features in the house.

I think the middle one matched the wood around the door the most. Your right about it looking a little big, but on your 12 foot cellings it will look amazing. If you still think it's to big, can you not get something like that in a 6" instead of 7" from another supplier 😊

Hi MaCenna. I never miss any of your videos. I love it all. The LA vibe, the diy’s, the renovating and period design you are going with in your 110 year old cottage and the flea market/estate sale hunting. However I am most concerned with the older dishes you are picking up. Some older dishes could have far more lead in them than todays. I can’t recall when laws came in to limit the lead in items but think it may have been the ‘60’s or ‘70’s?? You might want to look into that and maybe even have any dinner wear you bought checked for it’s lead content. I certainly don’t want to rain on your flea and estate sale hunts but thought best to mention it for your and Romeo’s health as well as your little ones, when you do decide to have them. 🤗

I love the glass bell ornaments! I bought the same exact ones back in 1985 at Macy's. I just recently passed them down to my daughter and her family. The string of bells that only had 2 bells could very well have been damaged over the years... there were 3 sets of bells that I passed down that were missing bells because they got broken over the years. Great memories!

If you are painting your crown moldings a lot of high end builders are now using polystyrene or polyurethane crown moldings. Especially on taller ceilings you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference. It could save you a bunch to splurge on custom baseboards.

Love the frames and table cloth you got! I also am leaning toward the middle crown molding. However, again, you tend to show us that what you like really does look amazing in the end. :) Have you ever heard about the KZbin channel "How to Renovate A Chateau without Killing your Partner"? I think you would LOVE Anna's style. Maybe when you and Romeo go back to Paris, you can stay at her and her husband's chateau, which they turned into a B&B. :) Another channel I think you should check out when you have the time is "Our Restoration Nation" with Lane and her husband. They buy, restore and tour older homes throughout the US. Lane has excellent tips on fixing/replicating old moldings and other things that I think you would love to know about. Anyway, can't wait to see more next week! :)

I like the right hand trim. Just holding up the profiles I loved it more than the others. Also, you can totally get a crown moulding custom made if you can’t find one pre-made that you love. Getting a knife made at $300 isn’t that big a deal considering it’ll be crown moulding for the whole house. Get what you want. Don’t settle for what’s available. I almost settled for stock trim when we reno’d and I’m so glad I changed my mind at the last minute and went with my gut. We ended up sort of doing our own trim by buying stock and modifying it. People (including my husband) rolled their eyes at me because I was being “extra” but after all was said and done, everyone who sees it agrees that it was the right call.

Those glass ornaments are just beautiful. They remind me of my Aunts Christmas tree. She lives in Newmarket (uk. Near the horse race track) in a very old and beautiful home with tonnes of period features. She has the most beautiful real tree every year and has been collecting glass ornaments over the years. Something about the glass and the dainty copper lights is magic. It fits with all her French period furniture so well too. I would definitely recommend collecting glass ornaments and maybe having one single tree with just them in like the dining room or something.

I think the middle one looked great, like it hugged that corner better even if it was quite large ❤️

The middle crown molding for sure! I’m not a fan of toucans either but not sure if it’s the frame or what, I’m loving it! It looks super expensive and regal.

I like the middle crown. It is elegant and not overly ornate.

It made me smile, as I purchased the exact same print of the Arc de Triomphe back in 1989 on our first trip to Paris, from a street vendor.

I like the crown molding in the middle. It seems more simple and it will save a little money.

I like the small piece one. I feel it matches the door framed better as well as being simple like many other features in your house which I love!

Right hand piece for sure! You will want the one with more detail, it gives it a much more grander look. I think everyone is gravitating towards the middle because it’s a bigger piece and painted white so it’s easier to envision but the more detailed one will be the detail you are after

I love a super large crown molding. Our finish cabinet maker, combined a crown with two other moldings in our century-old house. The ceilings were high and so needed that dramatic crown.

Hope you might consider doing an online sale as well as your planned pop up shop. Living in the southeast, attending a popup in California wouldn't be possible for some of us. Anyway just can't wait to see the guest bathroom come to life. Loving it so far.

I also think the six inch is the best. I also love the print very nice. This house is gonna look fantastic when you are finished.

The middle one imo is the best, being that the ceiling is tall. It would definitely compliment details of the bathroom.
