I think a plate display on the end shelves would be so pretty and bring in a lot of character. I imagine vintage Christmas plates there during the winter 😍

I don’t think there is enough space for plates to be displayed. Spices would work better.

I like the idea of a plate display!! Would probably only be large enough to display a couple, and probably smaller size, but would be so pretty! Bird plates perhaps .... :)

Wait until AFTER you remove the quitting stitches, THEN wash the fabric. That will help close up the needle holes from the quilting process. 👍
@kerengosselin29742 жыл бұрын
Yes!!! But I think it was a good idea to wash it beforehand, too, so that she wasn’t handling all that dirty fabric ❤️
@MicheleWalkerWebb2 жыл бұрын
Does no one think the fabric would fray after removing the stitching. I've quilted. Once a hole is in the fabric, it's never really the same. Especially quilted by a machine. (Should have watched the entire video)

I think the antique brass fits in with the dark island without shouting out too much. The color is 1/2 way between if the shelves had matching dark wood crossbars or if you chose bright shiny brass crossbars. A happy medium, colorwise. But if you want that corner to sparkle and shine brighter, then switch out to bright brass.
@2009ccastillo2 жыл бұрын
:@ with a darker background you may need the bright shiny brass bars :P and longer maybe? Mcenna I've been living in a similar contruction site like u, how are you coping with it 🤪 and how much time would it take for you to finish most of it (minus the main room and outside)? I just wonder, good luck!

2nd comment - I get overwhelmed easily when I get too much clutter & while I try to organize I end up going in circles & getting sidetracked quickly. I have now adopted the technique (I think it's a technique, lol, it works for me) of telling myself to "touch it once". I repeat this to myself as I go through things, so whenever I pick something up I tell myself "to touch it once" & then follow through & put it where it's going to stay. It really works for my ADD brain. 😊

Your corked backed trivets are NOT for hot pans/dishes. We received similar ones as a gift from Scotland... The care card said do not get hot or set in water. They are similar to a charger, place your cold serving dishes on so that you don't scratch the polish on table or sideboard. They are so pretty and look like they are only used as decor.

MaCenna, would the cabinet you have in the dining room have fit in the bathroom for storage. It looks so similar in design to your vanity. Your dining room needs something g more substantial in size. I can’t tell right now but could you use 2 corner cabinets in there on either side of the side window. I’m not saying a stand alone piece wouldn’t be nice. Say to use for glassware and we know how much you love glassware. Just an idea.

The trivets.... could be wall art if wanted.. lol attach a sawtooth hanger on the back or glue a small twine loop to hang it 🤔but it will tilt.. but still doable if you'd like. Maybe hang in the laundry room ?? The heat might ruin the picture if you put hot pots on them🤔. As soon as she reached for the bag at the store, and said what is this..?" I like your rack by the dishwasher, but question putting spices there. Spices should not be stored where it’s warm, or in bright light. You could use opaque jars, but I would think it would get quite warm by the dishwasher. (Same reasoning why you never store spices in those magnetic holders meant to stick on your fridge….too warm!)

I find it interesting you design the house based on how you want to arrange furniture. I grew up in a house where we would rearrange our furniture often, switched all rooms and rearranged the livingroom and kitchen-diningroom. I loved that so much so it feels strange to me to have like set places for things rather than being able to just randomly decide I wanna have everything completely differently. Could be a cultural difference I don't know (I live in Finland)
@San110062 жыл бұрын
Omg I’ve actually thought the same! Not just with Macenna but other American KZbinrs. I’m from the Netherlands and it’s not like we have the room to completely move everything around but every now and then my parents would rearrange the furniture to give a different feel in the house. I guess it’s different when you’re building/renovating a house, because you need a vision to bring it to life, so imagining where the furniture will go makes sense? Not sure, but thought it was funny that you mentioned this since I’ve thought the same haha
