I was scrolling through your "backlist" and decided to watch this video. I'm so glad I did because it inspired me to pull down some storage boxes from a shelf in an attempt to discover a Shirley Jackson book that I knew I had somewhere. In the process, not only did I find that book, but the two boxes I looked in were full of brand new books, most of which had been purchased on trips to the UK. Among them was a copy of Fair Girls and Grey Horses, which is highlighted in your video. Thank you so much for this video as it is going to encourage me to shop from my bookshelves (storage boxes) and read some of these long-lost books!

Unread books are stored in a separate room from the ones I’ve read so it’s like going to the library when I need a new book! 😆 The books covers in English are so much more interesting than what is offered by our French Canadians publishers. Yours are so romantic and pretty.

haha, I love that you have your own little library of unread books! The publishing industry here has really upped its game here in recent years over book covers - there are so many gorgeous ones!

A great selection of recommendations. I had no idea about all the John Buchan connections, this is a wonderful discovery. Thank you for sharing from your book shelf:)

I, too, have been browsing my book shelves and, by co-incidence today, picked up my copy of O. Douglas's Penny Plain and was delighted that you reminded me of her relationship to John Buchan. I think you have chosen some delightful books to keep yourself busy with. I shall definitely be searching out my next O. Douglas...now if only I could remember which shelf it is on... Thanks for another inspiring video Miranda. Take care, Teresa 📚🌸

I have read Fair Girls and Grey Horses (I was a pony mad child) and enjoyed it immensely. I have a copy of The Outermost House by Henry Beston in my TBR pile which was the book that gave Juliet Blaxland the idea for her book The Easetrnmost House according to an interview she gave a while ago. Perhaps I should read that one next.

Thumbs up for your support of independent bookshops! The constant nymph sounds very interesting, I have never heard of it. Generally speaking, you listed many authors that I don't know. P.S. you wear such beautiful clothes in all of your videos!

“The Way to the Sea” sounds like the perfect companion read to a book I finished recently and loved - “Once Upon a River” by Diane Setterfield, which features the Thames. Thank you for the recommendation!
@MirandaMills4 жыл бұрын
I read that one last year! Kate Morton’s ‘The Clockmaker’s Daughter’ featured the Thames really beautifully too. It’s fun to read books that share a particular theme or feature sometimes! Xx

@@MirandaMills I've been meaning to pick up "The Clockmaker's Daughter" and this makes me eager to start it soon!
