Wow!! Not been back in over 5 years - but used to spend my school lunch breaks in and around Eastgate!! Some changes but still some Old Skool shops going strong!

Yeah, St. Martin's Square. My 40 year old, older sister requested I pick her up the other week in the evening because she COULD NOT walk from the bus station to the back of the new cinema, due to "recent crimes against women" and she was frightened to get picked up from outside the post office. NO ONE goes there anymore. The shops are dead, the crime is out of control and at night time it's downright dangerous. There's literally almost no reason to go there for more than one activity, at best - on the best of days. Not anymore.

Toys R Us has been shut for years. Eastgate has no designer shops unless you count New Look & River Island as designer! Shame that Debenhams closed.

Wow, great video... it was so interesting to see how it's changed over the years.. (I was wondering how it was looking these days) I havent been to Basildon for ages.. but I can see how sad it is that so many places have closed down...the market used to be really good and the high street was a good place to shop.. at least it still looks busy which is good to see.. thanks for the look around.. can't believe you're in Basildon...did you used to live there?

We used to live a few miles down the road on Canvey Island .. Love spending Colins money in Basildon 😂😂

@@MCD4477 I used to work in Basildon at Fords Dunton.. I used to pop into the Town for my lunch breaks sitting on that wall around the Mother and Child fountain and eating my chips in the summer lol ..more careful with my diet now!
