Unfortunately the Puente Hills mall has been a mall that has been dead for the past 20 plus years. Not sure what they could do to save it since it’s been that way for 2 decades.

The Centro is always pretty full of visitors. For almost 30 years. Every weekend, people come from all over the country and even from the Netherlands. It's actually a very clean mall too. And I've never experienced any violence there. The cleaners and security do a good job. However, appearances are somewhat deceptive. I'm actually often in Oberhausen, and a few hundred meters further on in the old town you get a completely different picture. Many of the buildings are empty and there are lots of alcohol and drug addicts. So don't think that the cities in Germany are particularly clean and safe. They haven't been for a long time.

Nice to see folks having a pleasant day out. Looks safe and normal. These types of malls are very popular in Costa Rica, near San Jose. And the Dominican Republic in Santo Domingo. They are always crowded.

IF YOU LOOK FOR IMAGES OF TIJUANA IN THE 70's THE PEOPLE LIVED LIKE HAITIANS IN CARDBOARD SHACKS, THANKS TO AMERICAN TAXPAYERS MONEY SENT TO BUILD UP TJ MEXICO...THEY LIVE BETTER NOW. AMERICA USED TO LOOK THIS CLEAN IN THE 80s when the hispanic population was 6 PERCENT. GO CHECK THOSE STATS ON THE CENSUS. IF YOU ALLOW THE THIRD WORLD IN BY THE MILLIONS YOU WILL BECOME THE THIRD WORLD. LOL HAHA And when you hear LA RAZA.... If these people lived in Shacks in the 70s and they say LA RAZA....Take back???? Mexico only OWNED California for 2 years prior to the GUADELUPE HILDAGO TREATY AFTER SPAIN GAVE THEM CALFIORNIA BY GRANT..... AND THE TREATY WHEN USA PURCHASED THE SOUTHWEST INCLUDING CALIFORNIA. SO LA RAZA IS A LIE... AMERICA BUILT UP MEXICO THE LAST 30 YEARS STRAIGHT FORM AMERICAN TAXPAYER MONEY> YOU WON'T HEAR THAT TRUTH OFTEN OR AT ALL. LOTS OF LIES THE MEXICANS THINK THEY ARE TAKING BACK?? YOU MEAN INVADING. . 70s THEY LIVED IN SHACKS....

I was there first time in the 90s and then later on. Remembering bought several stuff there, Windows ME at the Kaufhof, they had a computer department on the ground floor, and several CDs from the HMV Store, which doesn't exist anymore. Shopping 25 years ago was more exciting, today it is just clothes. But the Centro Oberhausen is still an excellent mall.

This is so funny. I grew up in Oberhausen-Osterfeld and know this mall very well. It has developed since it opened about 20 years ago. A sad fact, after Centro opened, the shops in the Oberhausen Innenstadt slowly died. Business just left them for the mall. I don't understand how it works here in the US. We have a huge mall in the Woodlands and hundreds of small shops all around. Everyone is doing fine here. Thank you for the videos.
@riptors9777
@riptors9777 2 ай бұрын
Thats because germans like to do their shopping in one place. Also old cities like Oberhausen barely have any parking spots, so actually getting close to the city center where most of the stores would be located is less comfortable then just going to the Centro that has massive parking spaces. Its a matter of convinience really. German cities are for the most part very tight on space and not nearly as attractive or modern as the centro presents itselfe. The cleanlyness and security you have at centro is also something you wont find in most old small cities around germany. So as allways, local politicians are the issue... they focused on centro and left the inner city shops to drown. Add the dominance of Amazon and online shopping ontop of that and the rising cost of rent and electricity and little shops simply cant compete anymore.

they dont really survive in europe and here in germany as well. First victim like 20 years ago were the smaller shops because of huge stores like media markets which were like best buy in the US. city mals in duisburg all are dead and are now rented to offices. Duisburg and Obehausen are pretty much 0 km away from each other because they directly share borders its even hard to know if you are still in duisburg are are already in oberhausen if you missed the sign.

It is the Dutch folks shopping there. I live a few kilometres away and have been there one in over 30 years. Does not appeal at all to my generation.
