I really enjoyed this video , I’ve only been an AE Enthusiast since October of last year and this year was my first AE trunk show . I purchased a pair of HM in natural and was disappointed by the finish . I’ve since gotten used to the unique look and am starting to embrace them . This was highly informative video ! Great Job !

It’s funny really because i see them around the Loake standard of quality but these are made in such a durable material. There not widely sold outside the USA though.

The calf leather is quite nice, nicer than Loake 1880 or even Legacy IMHO. In terms of comfort, I do find them more like export grade, but I find Loake attention to details on the sole and upper finishing and patina to be superior in that grade.

@@wishoeguy Thanks that’s a pretty nuanced reply! I like the design of those Apron stitched boots you showed and I also notice on their website that they do convert into £ sterling and ship to the U.K so I might try out a pair sooner or later.

As the owner of at least 6-7 pairs of Allen Edmunds I must say, the fit and comfort is great. They could improve the finishing though. I tried on Carmina, crocket and Jones and other brands, nothing came close in terms of comfort.

That’s a great point. At the end of the day it’s all about wearing the shoes and them lasting. Some of this finishing, like edges we do ourselves when polishing so comfort becomes a very important factor. Especially if you travel and wear your shoes for 15-20 hours at a time.

You might try different lasts. Carmina’s Oscar last for me is more comfortable than any of my Allen Edmonds, although the 201 last/First Street is pretty good.

I agree Oscar is great. I own Oscar, Forest, Rain and Simpson in Carmina. They’re great shoes.
