Shopping with Helpers ║ Large Family Shop with Me Vlog│ May 2017

This month's shopping trip to Walmart is not typical. I was too busy to go shopping on my normal shopping day so I'm going on a busy Saturday. I'm taking you along for the whole day for two trips to Gillette, two trips to Grandpa Frank's and two trips to the store (Walmart and Diehl's Supermarket.) Oh, and a stop at Home Depot. I end up taking five of our children to Walmart. (Normally I shop alone.) I don't do any price break downs in this video, nor do I share my on-line orders or the rest of the month's shopping. Hopefully next month things will be back to normal! There's nothing mentioned in the video, but our garden is producing for us a little and we'll have some pictures of what we've harvested in next month's Shop with Me vlog.

Great video, as always. Tom's expression when you returned from Walmart was priceless. It was obvious he 'was up to something'. Yup, wrapping your birthday present. And your excitement when you saw a sparrow in the feeder was so genuine and sweet, it made me smile and I felt your happiness. I spent today sorting and packing for a move, that was literally my first smile today. Thank you for that, and of course for sharing your family's lives with your fans.

Just another note… I think one of my favorite parts of your shopping videos is when you drive home… The music is playing...you show the roads leading to the house… And then you pull in the driveway. Sometimes it's just the house and sometimes the kids come running out but either way it looks like a place you can truly call home!!!!!!

Dear Asher: I am pretty sure that most of us that watch your mom's videos already know what a kind, conscientious young man you are and knew you wouldn't have made a big mess. But even if you had, sometimes being human means making messes. How boring of a world it would be if we didn't make messes at least every once in a while. And I am thinking that if Janelle and Art had to drive as far as y'all do for groceries and for work, the "Beast Bus" would have a LOT more miles on it.

I imagine Grandpa Frank is so happy to be going home. I love Knuckles waiting for you on the deck. He is adorable!!! Everything is so close where I live, I barely put 1000 miles on my car a year. It makes it easier to walk lots of places, and I only fill up my car every 2 weeks or so. My car is 4 years old, and has 2,800 miles on it. 😂 Claudia is a total Daddy's girl. It's really cute. Do any of your kids get car sick? I imagine that could be quite unpleasant with the amount of travel you do to get places. I love that the eggs are all different colors and sizes. That's how you know you are getting truly farm fresh eggs, and not the eggs from the big companies. We started getting a farm share which includes eggs, honey, granola, and jams, etc. you can actually taste the difference when you cook them up. In fact, our Havanese, Isabella, will not touch the eggs that are not from the farm. It's really quite funny.

I downloaded the "Out of Milk" app after you mentioned it in one of your earlier videos, and now, I can't live without it! It's so handy and very helpful when I go grocery shopping. The only thing I wish it had is a simple menu planning option. I just use the To Do List function for that. Love these shopping videos :)

I can understand "High Mileage". My Mom was a division director for Goodwill Industries in Central Texas, way back when, and she HAD to buy a new car every year. I think she put about 800 miles on her car a week.

We've been cleaning it out once a week and last time Judah was a bit messy and let birdseed fall on the porch and the furniture under the feeder when he was emptying it. I think that's what caught the birds' attention. They started eating that and now they've found the feeder. We've seen several of them since I took this video two days ago. It turns out making a mess was just what we needed!

We used to just have a few cabinets, too. When I started stocking up on sale items to save money, I put up a set of plastic shelves to hold everything. My stock kept growing and growing until we completely remodeled the little room we were using into a nice, pretty pantry.

Yes, Grandpa Frank is Tom's mom's father. Tom's mom is Grandma Kitty and she and Aunt Suzie are sisters. Grandma Jane (their mom, Grandpa Frank's wife) has Alzheimers and lives in a nursing home.

Oh wow, yeah that is for sure a journey. I remember those days. When I was a child I lived in a small Northern California town called Happy Camp, we used to have to travel 100 miles to Medford,Oregon. As a child I used to hate/love it. Hated it because I used to get so car sick loved the adventure of shopping once a month. Well you make good use of your resources for sure.
