The pen does sound expensive. I have a Fisher Space Pen, supposedly the pens used in actual NASA space missions, and it was only $19.00. I could see investing the extra bucks for the Halcyon pen if it had a compressed air ink cartridge that wrote upside down, underwater, and in grease (and, most importantly, on cash register receipt paper, much of which is still that slick stuff that resists your average ballpoint pen), or if it was constructed of better materials (my Fisher is metal).

It doesn’t look like it; it appears that the racks of Star Wars-branded caps, shirts, patches, pins, etc. only come out when guests are disembarking on their final day. It’s meant to be another exclusive perk for staying on the Galactic Starcruiser.

The price for the merch is not ridiculous, it’s the price to go on the cruise that’s ridiculous. A lot of Star Wars fans want to go but can’t afford it. $5k is a lot for just 2 days and 2 people. And, their limited on some of the merch per room. WTH?! It should be per person on those items. Hopefully Disney will realize that if they drop the price to a more reasonable amount, they’ll make more money off the merch.

The elected officials who hate gays also tend to want to lower corporate tax rates, so this shouldn’t really be a shock. Disney won’t throw its weight around to try to have this bill blocked, but they will release a ton of new t-shirt designs for Pride month, so it balances out.
