Yes, it was helpful and quite interesting - as with last time, I really love your honest and thoughtful approach. What I would have loved to know (as a couple others have mentioned) was more than just how well the operations held up several weeks after the "maiden public voyage", but also in-depth, with a couple examples, on how the story/entertainment experience felt for you as a repeat visitor. Where the curtains may have peeled up a little due to seeing something twice, or where you expected something rote and then were surprised in the best possible way.

Went with the family this past week. I agree that the actors during the day were 100% on point and acting their respective roles all the time. Within hours two of the actors knew my daughter’s name (she was dressed like Rey) and never forgot the entire two days and pulled her into a couple of “missions.” Still processing the value/cost question but it’s done, not sure we’ll do it again. Most food was good, very rich, and about 1/3 of it was an easy pass. The blue and green milk were very good, everyone like that and it was different than what you get in the parks (to us anyway). Crew staff, not the actors, were next level Disney cast members; one of the workers in the Chandrila guest store shared some of the history of the Halcyon while ringing me up for some merch. Everyone there are passengers, crew, or actors. We had a room on the 4th floor and I’d definitely do that again as much of the ship activities occur on the 4th floor. That said, elevators were reasonable quick.

How about a review a year from now to see what the BIG changes will be? Do you think the price will drop? Will they change the story line up any? Upgrade the “filler” activities (line dancing/space bingo). I think they could upgrade the light saber training to a VR style game (my kid has the beat saber VR game that is really cool), they could make the VR headset to look like the blast helmet that Luke wore on the Falcon in A New Hope. IMO it would make that particular activity way more cool than lights from a wall.

Or, as we fear, will it go the way of American Idol at the Studios, an experience it was cool to think they would OFFER, but which not enough paying guests could actually participate in to keep it viably afloat?

That is if it manages a full year. At this current time reviews seem rather mix, positive towards the experience, negative in terms of cost and what you get room wise. So its hard to say if this will stay a year and if changes would be made. Hopefully cause most people don't want to drop 5k.

Another brilliant review Tom - thank you 👏 I find it incredible you had a 30-minute wait for a journey that would’ve taken 5 minutes to walk 🤦🏻♂️ Why didn’t they just build a covered walkway?! Could’ve used the same technology as the boarding shuttle to maintain suspension of disbelief as well. I’m speechless 😳

Curious if one could use knowledge of the alternative menu items to request them, and if cast would be polite and cater to that or decline. For the price I feel like the lobster, caviar, and salmon should be the standard. However, Disney being Disney it doesn't surprise me that they cheaped out on it a bit.
@largol33t12 жыл бұрын
Just pathetic and CHEAP of them but what else des one expect from Bob Cheapek? And the drinks list is overpriced too. This whole crap show was executed half-heartedly from start to finish. The warning sign for me was when Universal mildly trolled them with a picture of their maintenance truck on their Twitter page, warning guests that this is what $5-6k gets them: a ride in a glorified box truck.
@porcelainthunder22132 жыл бұрын
More than likely, you won't be able to request it. They knew repeat customers were going to be there (and media at that), so it was likely planned and arranged by kicthen management ahead of time. You don't keep ingredients like lobster or caviar, or even the red fish around just inbcase somebody asks for it. And they likely would not drive it over spedial for you from another restaurant on property whe ordered. Then tyere isnthe issue with other guests then wanting it, somit was kind of a risky move to even serve it (not so much the red fish, but the added lobster and caviar could make other guests mad they paid all that money and coudn't get that...they were stuck with the nasty blue shrimp.

Thank You Tom! You know you had my family really interested on your first review- and I would love to do it but... We were planning on vacationing at WDW for 7 days this summer- so I thought if we could pull it off, maybe we could do the cruise for 2 of the days. I worked closely with the Vacationeers (they are great) figuring out that 1 overnight at WDW with my family of 4 with food was going to be about $1200... so if you take 2 nights cost, it really drops the starcruiser down to $3500-ish... still really high, but with other discounts the Vacationeers figured out- ok.. we thought we might be willing to go for it- and then we found out the only dates we can travel- our family of 4 were estimated at $7400 for that standard room (and worse yet- they would not give our vacationeer person an actual cost unless we gave them our credit card/ 20% down guarantee- then we could hear the real quote- she couldn't believe it- talk about open your wallet and just take what you want Disney). Yeah, we said uncle- $7400 was that straw that broke our hopes. Oh well, we'll still be going to WDW but we'll have to live vicariously through you on the starcruiser. Thanks to all the staff that makes this channel hum!

She said to me, “Don’t tell anyone I am here!” and bolted out the other door. I laughed at the surprise and felt that giddy pleasure one gets as a kid. Among other reasons, that’s what made it worth it! Thanks for being positive. If you look at Google reviews, most people who have gone, gave it 5/5. Was hoping to hear more about the difference between the resistance and first order missions/games and if they use the same rooms or have completely different areas to interact in. Ie. Did the first order have a dramatic moment like the holocube? Does the resistance have an engineering "escape room" type game? Do both use the bridge but vary from shooting asteroids or TIEs?
@averyeml2 жыл бұрын
Personally from what I’ve seen I think the First Order stuff looks more fun. Maybe it’s just due to what’s been recorded but the Jedi stuff all looks like deep, “emotional” speeches about the force and being connected and how deeply important each person is and everything is and the ship is, while the First Order feels more action-oriented and humorous. 🤷🏼♀️

We just came off the March 29, 2022 sailing. EVERYBODY gets a "bridge training" event that turns into a little more, (I got to do it twice because my wife missed hers) and there's another bridge scene for Resistance as well as for First Order (Lt. Croy had to shoot down the loader bots that we had jiggered to block his transmissions, but doing so attracted incoming fire from the First Order so in order to save his own and everyone else's skin the First Order players had to defend the ship until Croy could get a signal out. (Their scene was right after ours and I watched it through the observation window).

The massive drop in corporate bigwigs on the second day worried me. Considering this is one of the most expensive things you can book at Disney, you figure they would be more concerned. If I was in corporate, I wouldn't care what Bob Chapek says: I'm going to walk next to the guests from their car to the lobby to the main hall to their rooms and see every bit of it. Then I'll do it with the next 2-day guests. And again. And when I'm satisfied, I'll leave. And put a reminder on my phone to come back in a week or two and wash, rinse, repeat. That's the only way to know for sure if this uber-expensive project is really worth it...

For people who are into this thing, it does have some good attributes. There are downsides I think 1) Lightsaber training seems like an absurd concept on a cruise ship, it cheapens what a serious weapon it is 2) budget cuts led to cheapened theming, lots of drywall interiors, makes it look ho hum. 3) The price. This is subjective, this is not a vacation for people for whom travel, scenery, outdoors, etc are MUSTS. This is an artificial experience in an indoor space which smells of artificial materials. You can get a far more memorable experience for less with a trip to Europe, rather than a concrete box in Orlando.

I was seriously considering whether or not to try and save up and take a voyage. You will review disabused me of ever considering it. It's impossible to believe that such an expensive experience would have its food options limited by budget. Personally, I could afford this right now. But it makes me feel dirty just thinking about it. I used to go to Disney as a normal lower-middle class kid, and I was ably to feel fully immersed and have (mostly) the same experience as wealthier kids at the parks, and even the hotels had great perks at all price points. Now, that level of immersion has been sucked from the parks and is behind this ridiculous paywall. It just feels wrong. It all feels very elitist now. Which was never what Star Wars was supposed to be about. Or Disney. I just feel that he lost perspective of that in this review, for the most part. Actually.. I think everyone is slowly losing sight of that and just accepting this as the “New normal” for Disney, even though they could just fight it with their pocketbooks and consumer choices. I cancelled my Disney Christmas vacation and emailed their offices as an investor explaining exactly why. I’m starting to not enjoy certain youtubers either, who are rolling with it all and promoting it to stay in Disney’s good books. It doesn’t sit right with me, so by default I guess I’m kind of not supporting them either (though I didn’t really mean to boycott or anything, the content has just become too frustrating to watch). I'm doing the Secret Cinema Guardians of the Galaxy immersive experience later this year and I do wonder if Disney should try taking a page from them or give them the ability to have something more permanent.

I think it’s neat they did more for repeat customers. I mean, the entertainment experience is identical so it’s good to know there’s minor rewards if you’ve been twice 🤷🏼♀️

Do you know if its possible to follow several different storypaths? Like you've mentioned before for many of us when we go on a vacation we want to get the most bang for our buck and that means seeing as much as possible. So naturally hearing of the several story paths and the events they allow you to gain access to I'd like to do more than one if Im spending nearly 6k
@ktpaladino2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t been so I’m just speculating based on what I’ve heard, but I think following multiple story lines as one person would be almost impossible because of time constraints. They do this because like Tom said, they want repeatability and people to come back and do it different the next time around. You could however have different people in your party pick different paths, though it would require you to split up at times to complete missions.

At $1000 ($500 a night) it would be expensive but I think it would have a continuing presence. But at this price, they're going to run out of people pretty quickly I think, within the year.

to do this (at 5,000 per two night visit) -- for six visits to the hotel over a year would be only $ 30,0000. -- I wonder what what food upgrades you would get. --- (BTW: It would only cost $ 60,000 if you did once a month for the year.)
@roycem49452 жыл бұрын
@Xer0 I am merely pointing out that potential "repeat" customers might be doing just that - so just consider the cost. Hey, if you did it six times in six years (once a year) - it cost you over $ 30,000

I see how you can relate it to the Adventurers club which I loved and miss but it came at a minimal charge. I love Star Wars but think this is definitely geared towards people with way more interest than me.

I still think they missed the boat. Could have had a larger star wars resort. Priced at deluxe and added this stuff. . I don't know if 100 room starcruiser can maintain. Alot of people will one and done.u gonna need repeat customers at 6k

Too bad the hotel isn’t a little bit closer to HD. They could have made a tunnel to walk to HS. Kinda like the underground walkway under MK.

It’s interesting reading comments on pricing, converted for me it’d be £4000 ish (rounded up) for 4 of us in a room, that’s £1000 each for the two nights or £23 per hour of entertainment during your 43 hours onboard. I’d easily pay £60+ for an hours comedy show or theatre experience and that would equate to £2580 per person over the same 43 hours, which in essence means for the same quality of entertainment I’d save £1580 per person over the trip. Ok that’s the extreme example but if the experience and quality is as I’ve seen many review, then £23 an hour on board per person inc food, drink, park tickets and queue jumping, then it isn’t a lot to ask in my opinion. Yes it’s a huge amount to outlay all at once, I get it, but when comparing apples you need to actually compare them to other apples not just any other fruit. In this instance you compare your entertainment received to other similarly packed experiences. A murder mystery night for me is roughly £135, over two nights that’s £270 or £6.28 an hour (without drinks staying in a 3* hotel & one meal provided) so £16.72 an hour more for the Star Wars fully immersive experience… which includes the entertainment, several meals, snacks, free limited drinks, park tickets for the day plus two ride queue jumps. I’d say that’s worth the extra £16.72 an hour. Still out of my budget currently as I’d need to combine it with a 14 nt Disney trip to make it worth while, but I’ll get to go at some point of that I’m sure.

$5800 is £4430. Personally I think it's a hugely inflated price for what you get. The food isn't even that great. I guess it depends what's most important to you

You could go somewhere real and spend weeks traveling for this $.
@stevefindlater3022 жыл бұрын
@@queenboudicca31 you could I agree… I’ve been lucky enough to travel many amazing places in this world and have memories that’ll last a lifetime. I’ve spent less, I’ve spent more but all have left lasting impressions. As a star wars fan with kids who are Star Wars fans though, this would be just another memory maker and experience. Don’t forget I’m in the U.K. so it’s not a £4500 trip for me, it’s more like a £15,000 trip! It’s £10k alone just for 2 weeks at Disney in Florida’s before you add the Galaxy Starcruiser in to the mix. That’s before money for food, merch, drinks etc so I’m looking at £17k or just under to make this a reality, that’s $22k US. Some people buy fancy cars or houses, some make memories that’ll live on in their children.

Thank you... Like to see the staffing from 1st Cruise to the 100th, will Chapek better manage resources take it toll on it affecting the hotels longevity or the quality (white glove treatment) will fall by the way side. Maybe see you in may there. WIGS👍... Again thank you!!!

Overall, I likely misjudged. I understand the price more now given the high quantity and quality of characters, though it's still completely exclusionary for my family. I would be sneaking my way all over the ship making and breaking alliances. I'd definitely bring a disguise. The windows, box truck, and training sessions seemed like the least convincing bits, but they would probably be ironic highlights of the trip.

You do realize that this is $6000 correct? In this review and your first review you are praising them for standard stuff that would be included in a cheaper hotel. “Man I wish they had the budget for the red fish over the white fish.” Bruh it’s 6K! They have it. Unbelievable amounts of copium.
