I found the drop shot technique works great for Sheepshead. The bait is suspended just off the bottom which makes it easier for them to eat and easier to set the hook. Also a lawstick is way easier to measure fish with than that tape you got but if it works it works. Nice job.

I went through a dozen and a half of quality mud crabs the other day. Got broke off three times by pigs. I managed to land one 18" out of all those crabs. Its a chore at times.

My dad always told me the secret to sheepshead fishing is to set the hook half a second before you feel the bite. Easy peasy. :)

They are definitely a tricky fish to catch to say the least. I went through 30 filters today and got two smaller slot keepers.

The Sunshine Skyway fishing pier on the South side of the bay is a great spot for all kinds of fish. Lots of structure, so you may lose some terminal tackle, but well worth it. 😊

JC, do you know if the (3) concrete piers down on Bradenton Beach are open after the hurricanes?
@RadReelingFishing20 күн бұрын
I drove there on Monday. There's zero parking in front of those piers; the entire area is under construction. The beach is open and I did see a couple of people fishing on the piers. Down south of the piers there's the large parking lot that is open, pretty far walk. If you go north of the piers there's a public parking lot that's a pretty far walk, but it's $15 per hour to park there, ugh...robbery. I considered parking at the large beach lot and calling an Uber or Lyft to take me to the piers.
@louisjdiazjr20 күн бұрын
@ thanks for the intel! I fished those piers last winter after you, Bush and Thonny went down there for sheepshead and black drum. I limited out in like an hour on sheepshead and wanted to try it again. Hopefully, the areas affected by the hurricanes open back up soon! Love the content!!!

@@louisjdiazjr Sure, I'm going to hit those piers after the holiday sometime. They obviously aren't getting much pressure right now. Fishing should be really good.
