Buck thank you for being real with your posts. You don't catch fish everytime you go out especially early in the year. Until the magic happens. Thanks again.

When I went to school near Mt Clemens back in the 60's, Michiganders were talking about pickeral back then. It wasn't until years later I found out that they were talking about walleye. Good fishing!!

Hey Buck, FYI the steelhead are running the mouth of the Ganny now in case you want to drive out east for some action. With the temperatures the way they will be i think the eye's should be coming in earlier this year. Might be a week or two only.

My daughter is finally old enough (and can cast consitently enough) to target "bigger fish" this spring. We're limited to shore fishing, but i want to make sure we're not inconveniencing those around us (e.g. having our bait drift across others). What weight jig do you typically use when shorefishing the river?
@BuckFishes10 ай бұрын
3/4 oz jig if you want to avoid that always let the person downriver cast first once he hes in the water then you go
@danielpotter82810 ай бұрын
@@BuckFishes Thanks! I grew up fishing a similar current...all it took was one person thinking they could use 1/4oz because, "that's what the pros use," to ruin everyone's morning. Keep them coming, loving the content, even on 0-fish days.
@BuckFishes10 ай бұрын
@@danielpotter828 its all base on depth and how fast the current is , once you figure jigging out youll learn sizes and when to use them but start with a 1oz or 3/4 if your still learning and dont be afraid to ask someone to teach you, I find most fishermen are really nice

How long does it take for your jig to hit bottom with the current there after you jig hits the water ?
@BuckFishes10 ай бұрын
thats an awesome , that all depends on depth and weight of jig you use. I use a 3/4 oz jig and its 35 ft deep where I fish with the current about 10, 11 seconds but you should be able to feel the jig hit the ground and rest , then you use the jigging technique
