Shoreham East Level Crossing

Wednesday March 25 2020 at 11.40 and 11.54. The 11.14 Littlehampton to London Victoria (12.59) train with 2 minutes of the wait cut. Then the 11.42 West Worthing to Brighton (12.14) and the 10.46 London Victoria to Littlehampton (12.31) trains with 2 min 38 secs cut. This crossing was filmed from the other side in 2012 and was uploaded as Shoreham Level Crossing 2. A steam train went through. This is normally an impossible crossing to film from the correct side (with the sun behind) because it is a busy road and there is nowhere to wait. There was much less traffic this time of course and, as McDonalds was closed, their forecourt was available. As you can probably see, train passengers were following the official guidelines and were keeping a safe two carriages apart. In 2005 a 20 year old sat on the wall until the barriers lowered and when he saw a train coming he jumped the barrier and lay on the line. Many people are finding life very tough at the moment and suicides must be increasing, but they cause such unhappiness to relatives and friends.
