Weld.com can you make a video on how to repair a bad mig root, like lack of penetration or a pin hole on the root. i think that would be really helpful for a lot of people.

Thank you! Very good video. The description of how to grind down a failed weld is a valuable tip. I look forward to part two of this video. Greetings from Sweden.

If it' an inside tee joint just walk the cup in a quick 'stop on the sides' motion for downhill mig. For tig just the basic cupwalk, watching your tie-in on the sides, vertical up. If it's an outside "corner" (or edge) weld, go to Welding Tips and Tricks "Tig Finger" video. Get one and use it to prop your mig or tig torch hand right against the weld as you make it! It really works! I'm old school and we used to use old cut off glove fingers for this. Many burned fingers... Its about $11.00.

Hey can you put a video up of welding stainless steel corner joints vertical. I'm having trouble learning it in the program I'm in.

great video sir. i have one question: this weld is made in 1G position and he is welding between 1 to 2 o'clock so the penetration is no problem is it possible to weld 5G or 6G up hill (6 to12) o'clock with regards to penetration? thanks a lot for the awesome and very informative videos.

It's great that you've made videos on these processes for pipe welds, but it'd be nice if you showed some 6g stick. Even if it's just the fill and cap (though showing a 6010 root would be awesome!).

what current do you have the mig welder on for carbon steel? is it the same current for everything on mig welding? from your videos i learned tig is set at AC for magnesium and aluminum and DC for everything else?

I have the same lincoln 350mp and use the #40 mode the power mode with a 90 10 gas mixture and settings of 200-230 ipm and a setting of 4.6. This mode is supposed to emulate an STT machine.. ergo the poor mans STT. I have had a lot of success with this method.

@j.b.97968 жыл бұрын

Can you give me some tips on how to mig weld 6g pipe the root uphill? Tips on mig technique, fitup, wire speed and voltage if you can please.
@isaelaguillon29052 жыл бұрын
Root is always downhill fill and cap are uphill, root is ran around 16v and 195wpm. Fill and cap around 23v depending on thickness and 250wpm

Hi there I would like to know the angle of the torch if the pipe is static how should be done , i did that app but when I am welding i am having troubles from 3 pm to 6 pm , there its very hard to penetrate, could some one help me??
@luisbonilla830610 жыл бұрын
either weld hotter or weld from higher up on the pipe
@carlsaberhagen62810 жыл бұрын
I'm learning MIG (from stick), and I don't understand his torch angle here--it seems extreme. Does the 10 degree rule not apply?

i have welded very little pipe, but i think its because the pipe is moving (think gravity) also its faster. gotta be fast.
@phiksit8 жыл бұрын
+Carl Saberhagen If the gun was perpendicular to pipe, the wire would punch thru the puddle, you would lose your arc and then you got a mess on the back side of your root that wouldn't pass an x-ray.
