Short Intro - My PICO 4 in DCS

Welcome to VR. IDK about the PICO 4 specifically, but I use OpenXR Toolkit to gain extra FPS VR performance in DCS for my Vive Pro 2. Pretty easy to install and tweak using on onscreen menu. Also, I use VoiceAttack for all sorts of stuff in DCS. It's even more invaluable in VR, as now I never need to touch my keyboard in flight. It can even be used to assign button inputs to key-press outputs, which allows a lot of creative customization. A trackball mouse is a nice touch for VR too. Always exactly where you left it 🙂

Had a Reverb G2 and it was plagued with problems and is unusable. Had my Pico 4 for a couple months and is way better than Reverb! Not quite as clear as Reverb but the sweet spot 5x larger so Pico is far better for flight sims. For best results plug directly into router and use virtual desktop. OpexXR works with MSFS but not sure if DCS/Pico 4 works with OpenXR; at present using Virtual Desktop with Steam VR to play DCS.

got my Pico4 for a week now. Generelly impressed and satisfied with the performance. ( 4080, 13700cpu, 64gbRAM) . But the handling and testing of openxr, steam vr, Virtual Desktop somehow together is annoying. Looking forward to your video! edit: do you use the pico for recording?

I am sure it is nice when flying in VR, but KZbin videos dont really benefit from it, I think it is very hard to watch on YT.

I’ve been tossing the coin on whether to go VR or not. I don’t have a Varjo budget. Can you read the cockpit gauges using the Pico4, and is it annoying to have to lift up the headset to see which key you are reaching for on the keyboard?

I use Voiceattack software for issuing key commands verbally. I have been using it for many years now even in pancake (2D) mode. I find it invaluable 👍

Should be readable just fine, and there's a zoom function that makes it easier. Needed to use that a lot in the CV1, only in the Hornet I had to use it just rarely, but very much so in the Viper. But the Pico almost has twice the pixels per dimension, same as the Reverbs BTW. That is pretty solid even if you might have to turn the rendering resolution down a little for performance reasons. Lifting up the headset isn't that much of a thing actually, you'll find yourself learning where the important things are. Just make sure you're aware of the keyboard layout and especially those bumps on F, J and the numpad 5. It also helps having a standard layout with the gaps in between the F keys (3x 4 key blocks). Try to put the most important things on HOTAS anyway ;)

Pico4/DCS/Yaw2 motion platform user here. I can confirm you can read the gauges fine with a Pico 4 in DCS. I have most things placed where muscle memory can kick in like @Rainbow Dash suggested though I have removed the nose bridge flap so I can peer through if I need to see a button on my Stream Deck, keyboard, etc. It's enough visibility for convenience where I don't have to lift the headset off. It is like DYI augmented reality.

Yes please SUNTSAG as I bought recently PICO4 nad I am struggling with FPS I have a I9 12th gen with RTX 3080 and 64Gb and I am suffering a bit. I feel I have something that is not working.
