Upgraded to 7a on the blowout special last month after some bad experience with dodgy aftermarket batteries and the P2 display often not surviving the removal process making a "fresh" battery a poor option. The 7a is much faster and the battery is great, but I miss the big bezels, small size, light weight, fast laser autofocus, front speakers, and *especially* that impeccable rear fingerprint sensor. MKBHD gets sucked off by apple and google. I doubt he did it actually blind or any of his co workers did, when u take a look a youtubers who ACTUALLY work in the photo and video industry, its not the same. Most videos that I have seen have the 7a and 8a in the best or top 3 in the mid range category. While it never really enters top 5 (nor do most of the pixels, 8pro hit top3 on some). The thing with pixels is the sensors are not as good as most other flagships, but rather rely too much on post processing. In laymen's terms this means that phots taken will look more "fake" in terms of professional photography. The cameras and photos look great for an everyday user, but when it comes down to the nitty gritty and actually looking at which cameras and which phones take the best photos, its generally not google at the top 1 or 2 spots anymore as people like samsung, apple, and xiomi have caught up with their post processing

The fact that google wouldn't include a cable in the box that covers the full capabilities of the device it's bundled with is insane... USB-C is such a nightmare on this front and there isn't a single brand that is even trying to make it right. They're all shoving in the cheapest least capable cable that's just sleeved nice. The only way to trust a cable will actually work for more than the most basic charging is getting an active lightning cable? Really???

Well the main thing is that they release the phone with the final goal of it being the budget offering for the next series. So the 6a came out, ready as an end goal for when the 7 series released, at which point the line-up was 6a/7/7 Pro. Then the 7a came out and replaced it, with the end goal to be the budget option when the 8 series came out, with the line-up being 7a/8/8 Pro. They release it early just to get it out and start selling so there is a new budget phone out and keep relevant (people don't like to see phone models stay too long), but the purpose of the a series phones is not to compete with it's equivalent series line-up it's always ready for the next series. The final line-up later in the year will be 8a/9/9 Pro unless they change something big.

The general consensus with Android based phones is that they tend to drop in price very quickly after the first year, so the best time to get them is a year after or when they go on a discount/trade in offer, since those offers can be massive

As the most vocal majority, reviewers should give more praise to products that include a charger in the box so that manufacturers will use that as a competitive advantage
@terrabiker7 ай бұрын
What do you need charger for ? If the phone can't do 66W at least , you really don't need a charger from the manufacturer bcs you probably already have one. And I have a lot of various chargers at home that can already do at least 60W ( 120W for my phone , 100W for my notebook , 60W multiport charging brick ) , i really don't need another one. That's the whole point of making all gadgets USB-C

Just bought myself a Pixel phone going from Samsung and i am truly disappointed. This is just som of the things I don't like. Screen lock when opened with personal code, after entering the code you must also press the "OK" button. On all other manufacturers this is an option to disable. The screen opens immediately after entering the correct code, there is no need to approve the code with an extra button press. When swiping down, to get to the quick menu buttons, Wifi, Bluetooth, screen brightness ect, it takes three presses to activate or deactivate Bluetooth or Wifi, for example. Other Android manufacturers only need one press. When the "Always on display" clock is used, there is no possibility of personal customization, neither own style nor color. Color is important because if it is used as a clock at night, RED text is good for the eyes. Red has a different wavelength and does not "wake up" the eyes. This is fully customizable with Samsung and some other manufacturers. No possibility with "pocket mode" the proximity sensor does not turn off the screen if you put the phone in a pocket without having activated the lock screen. The risk of misprints is high. Can go very wrong. It is incredibly important that I as an owner really turn off the screen manually with the "lock screen" button. Missing the "lock start screen" option. That you "lock" all apps and widgets from being moved, changed or deleted. This is an extra feature for some manufacturers, but since the Pixel lacks the ability to turn off the screen if the phone is put in a trouser pocket, this possibility should be obvious. Calculator, lacks unit conversion. Thought this was a standard on all Android manufacturers but not on Google Pixel. The sound of the screen is very "hollow" while texting och swiping it. It's absolutely worse in the middle och the screen. There is no feelings of quality. Takes ages to charge and not exactly good battery life. All other manufacturers are light years ahead. Screen settings, for example, if you have email, calendar widgets, the widget does not go all the way to the edge of the screen. Text does not fit even at the smallest text size, which makes it very difficult to understand what the content of the text is. If you switch to another Launcher, this is fixed without problems. I could go on with more.... I advise you to think twice before purchasing a Pixel.

I've still got my Pixel 3 from 2018...the only issue is that the battery life drops pretty fast now when in use, especially watching videos, and the fingerprint sensor died a couple months ago. The charging port actually never worked from the day I bought it, and I haven't had any real issues with wireless charging. I think I'll be upgrading sooner than later though. I hope the 8 series lasts as long as my 3!

Just picked one of these up as i needed a new phone pretty quickly. I saw yalls review and decided to look into it. You just cant beat it for the price. Sure the others are better, but specifically for the price it is fantastic. My old phone was messing up and i rely on my phone for many things. Im liking it so far. Very snappy. I feel this is great example of a budget version of a flagship phone. Not filled with junky parts or the last model cpu. It does go to show that you dont have to break the bank or spend 1-2k on a phone. The 7 year support was also a major selling point on it for me
@FrommDK7 ай бұрын
a 3 amp rating shouldn't make that much of a difference considering that fastcharging in a lot of cases will boost the voltage as high as 9 to 12V. Without having confirmed the exact voltage, 9v would make the most sense in this case considering that would max out at 9V * 3A = 27watts, yes it would still limit power transfer, but not as significantly as you might think
@ymi_yugy31337 ай бұрын
$60 for 128GB is not reasonable. It's just less crazy than Apple. 1Tb of TLC NAND flash costs about $7.75 at the moment. Note that the lowercase b for bit. It's actually 128GB. These are spot prices and they are quite high at the moment. Back in summer last year, prices were around $3. You can buy entire PCie Gen4 SSDs with DRAM cache at a lower per GB price the the current spot price. Im pretty sure Google can get a discount. But that's beside the point. Even at currently unusually high prices, it's almost a 8x markup.
