Those giant connectors can sometimes be useful. Unfortunately not all boards have a USB-C connector. Especially some older custom boards might have a Mini-USB or Micro-USB connector instead. For anybody who isn't familiar with the term TKL, it means tenkeyless and refers to the "10 keys" 0-9 of the right number pad. TKL boards usually have Home, Page Up/Down, End, Insert, Delete, Prt Scrn, Scroll Lock, and Pause, but no number pad. So saying this is a "TKL.. Kind of" (6:27) or saying it's "between 60% or TKL" (14:10) really isn't accurate. It's 60%+num pad, none of the extra keys that you would find on a TKL, plus keys that literally go against the definition of TKL.

Silicone is for sound dampening (i agree) but it's also just for weight (excuse me what the fuck?). The weight of the Silicone should be marginal compared to the weight of an aluminium chassis. The foam does not produce thocc. It dampens hollowness which can then lead to enhanced thocc. That being said, it is not necessarily the case. The amount of "thocc" you have depends on so many factors that are all more important than the foam. If the rest is not tuned to produce thocc, the keyboard won't thocc. Even if you add foam to it.

Adds a numpad to a keyboard -> "Now you've got a TKL, kind of." Isn't the whole point of TKL to _not_ have a numpad? =)

I don't get the reason why to remove function key row - the width is the issue with keyboards, but how removing one row makes in any more ergonomic or usable?
@zahidshabir40382 жыл бұрын
You got the word TKL wrong ALSO this is a 65% a 60% I think has no arrow keys and some of the keys on the left of a 65% are just placed as FN key toggles underneath other keys. A TKL is a FULL SIZE keyboard WITHOUT the numpad. 60% and 65% keyboards have no numpad BUT the rest of the keys are ALSO smushed together in a TKL it looks just like as if someone took a hacksaw and chopped off the numpad on the side. Think of the current Corsair K70 TKL Champion Series (I really don't understand what Corsair is doing doing with their naming scheme as they had the K55 series for a full size with macro membrane keyboard, then the K60 was a cheap mechanical keyboard, then the K65 series was the TKL keyboard, then the K70 series was full size then they had a K90 which was an extended macro keyboard with 18 macro keys (3 columns of keys) which they replaced with the K95 series which only had 6 macro keys and now the K100 which I understand since it has extra keys but more recently Corsair has released a TKL and a FULL SIZE keyboard under the K70 moniker which makes it more confusing since ~I always saw the K70 as a full size then they release a K65 that is 60% I think the 60% from Corsair should have been under the K60 moniker and their new full size K70 should have been under the K75 or K80 moniker I know the K70 has always been known as a full size but I would rather the K65 name be saved for 65% and a bigger number than 65 be used for a TKL like the K70 series)

Plouffe... could you please make a video on how to find /build the perfect wireless mechanical SILENT keyboard? A detailed LTT video would be nice!I Preferably in 2 or 3 price tiers like best bang for buck, high end, and no compromises tiers. I would love to get a mechanical keyboard but I can't stand the noise! Even membrane keyboards drive me nuts! And yes I have psychological problems and most people don't care about noises or even like them, I understand that, please don't hate! Thank you!

Plugs in the 10key - "So now it's like a TKL..." TKL literally means 10 Keyless... Adding a 10key to a 60% is literally adding the only keys NOT found on a TKL keyboard... Amazing. Also FWIW I feel like if you want a 60% but you also want a 10key, what you are actually saying is you don't want a 60%... If you need the space provided by a 60% and are the kind of person who would actually use a 60%, you are also the type of person who would get used to working with layers and you would just have a modifier key to add a numpad to a 2nd layer.

Do the USB-C ports support passthrough of any kind, like if I were to use a C-to-C cable to connect my phone to my PC?
@duckyatsea2 жыл бұрын
Hotswap is great for trying switches out but if you KNOW what you want, it's pretty much objectively inferior to soldering's better sound, ability to change layouts on the same board, and long-term reliability. The idea that "high-end" keyboards should always have hotswap is....kinda silly. People buying expensive keyboards should know what they like already. EDIT: Also USB-C extensions exist, you could very easily connect the numpad to the PC on it's own or run a very short extension between the numpad and keyboard

I like my 72 key Drevo Calibur v2 (60% with Fn F-keys), I just wish anyone made really nice low profile numpads without completely breaking the bank or having to solder stuff. I am constantly looking to find a decent numpad to expand my 60% to a TKL, but frankly the options are all horrible, including this.

ay mate just get a custon? theres some fire TKLs like the freebird and the keychron q3 and id87 that arent group buy
@saucyg63712 жыл бұрын
This is not worth more than $100 ($140 w/ the numpad) imo. Considering customs can be had at far lower prices of the all-in price of $210 (kbd67 lite, zoom 65, qk65, keychron, ikki68 aurora), this just hits that price point value-wise

TKL stands for Ten KeyLess. It's what you have before you plug in the keypad, not after. This guy misuses the word a couple of times. If you want a compact mechanical keyboard with the numpad, get the Akko 3098B. It has all the features this thing does except that it sounds better and has significantly better stabilizers for the tradeoff that the numpad is integrated. All for significantly less money.

Maybe I missed it but did they switch the LED's to south facing? Also is it compatable with the Media Dock attachement?

Not quite a 60% or a 65%. Not sure what I'd call it, but imo the 1u right shift is kind of a dealbreaker. I wish they would have just done a true 60% and not used the arrow keys. It makes it a nonstandard layout (harder to get different keycaps) and it's just less usable.
@jimmynguyen9732 жыл бұрын
It's a variation of a 60% layout. Agreed on the 1u right shift, I use right shift a bunch and the trade-off of a slightly smaller keyboard vs a 65%, and how much harder it is to use the right shift, isn't worth it

looks nice. i will keep my old Compaq keyboard with the PS/2 plug for anything that needs function keys. lol Hate the noise my razer chroma castoff makes. Typing this on a battered Microsoft 5000 wireless. Even after 12 years of spilling beer in it, can pull 100 wpm. 🤠

Y'all should try to get your hands on Ben Vallack's 16-key keyboard prototype. it looks nuts and I wanna see the LMG keyboard nerds try to use it. Or maybe do a roundup video on macropad style devices like the Adafruit Macropad or the Keybow devices from Pimoroni. See how small you can really get. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4OxkGeGhpWdZ6M

1600 layout! Or FRL (F-rowless) 96%. And if it's on the other side, can be prefixed as lefty- or southpaw. 1800 layouts have F-row and 1400 layouts are missing the numrow, like the Candybar custom mechanical keyboard!
@zora_tech2 жыл бұрын
For me if a keyboard is $150 or more and it doesn't have wireless then I am not interested. Also why would you pay $70 or more for a cable to connect your keyboard to your PC. Unless it has a lifetime warranty and will never fray I would consider buying it for $50. But otherwise that's just way to expensive.

Hey ShortCircuit, There's a very affordable brand that makes Mechanical Keyboards. You should probably do a review: TVS Electronics (Gold Pro, Gold, Gold Bharat Keyboards). I got a Gold Pro recently and I'm loving it!

Man I almost got fooled. I thought you made a mistake calling it a 60% and not a 65% but I got thrown for a loop because of the arrow keys. Honestly I would prefer this 60% layout compared to those that drop the arrow keys. I personally only go for 65% or 80/70% boards. Definitely cant do full size anymore.

"Mountain Everest Max" is better than this stripped-down version. The cable connection was realized optimally, namely after connecting the cable can be led out on the left, right and in the middle. The separable cable is firmly connected to the case so that the connection does not break off. Numpad has additional LCD keys.

I have this keyboard and it sucks. Mine doesn't not work with software at all no detection so I'm stuck with a stock keyboard for good. The dial thing is seriously cheap. There's 100$ in customs since it ships from Europe. Customer support is non existant. Horrible experience and a waste of 500$

I switched to 60% 2 years ago, and I can't go back at this point. My daily at home is an Anne Pro 2 with Kailh Box Whites, my daily at work is a Pok3r with Cherry Browns, and my first 60% was a GK61 with Gateron Optical Silvers

The keyboard videos are getting silly. mid-range price well over 100 dollars and we are supposed to accept their good word on SW support on release? I can get RK with hotswap and replace both switches and key-caps for the same price. There seems to be a pattern to the keyboard reviews that they show stuff with margins worth sponsorship, but not user friendly.
@nemtudom50742 жыл бұрын
It takes a special kind of hipster to buy a 60% keyboard because its small and saves on space, then splurging on an overpriced keyboard because they have a numpad For the record, i dont hate this keyboard, and its only mildly expensive, but the point still stands. Spending hundreds of dollars on a small keyboard, then buying a whole new keyboard because you both want and not want the numpad

Is it possible to use two numpads at this board? One on the left and one on the right. It would be great for my workflow.
@novotd4432 жыл бұрын
Nope, this is misleading. Definitely not all cherry mx stem keycaps are compatible, this "enthusiast" board has north facing LEDs, therefore the switch is upside down in a way and some keycaps might interfere with each other as a result. Switches aren't built symmetrically nor are all the rows of keycaps the same.

Have to be honest, more than half of these tech videos seem to focus primarily towards an insecure elitist group that needs to show off their purchases. I would like a more informative video that highlights a basic well rounded keyboard that is good for all occasions without the bling and the obnoxious price tag. You have to be a real self absorbed piece of work to actually NEED something like these as opposed to wanting it... like a selfie stick.
