I would have liked to see a more detailed noise leakage test for this type of earbuds - for example sitting next to each other with the distance you'd see on a bus. Also a comparison with the Sony LinkBuds would have been useful since they featured on this show before and have a similar concept at a similar pricepoint.

I’d have liked them to go into it but I can say from using them that it’s a very tinny sound can be heard in a very quiet place with a volume all the way up It’s extremely dependent on the noise environment since your brain is still taking in sounds through your ear holes

it is fine. I often take them off when someone sits down next to me in public transport to see if it is too loud. If it is not full power you cannot hear anything. The other way around is usually fine. You can hear other stuff around going on around you. Though that also means that when the subway kreeks again or breaks you cannot hear the sound anymore

I’ve had Galaxy Buds Live for years and I wear glasses, they’re non sealed in ear buds. Battery is around 5 hours, case fits in a jeans watch pocket, and I’ve literally had conversations while vacuuming and people don’t know and can hear me fine, better than my iPhone’s built in mic. I keep the touch controls turned off because if you’re working out or moving a lot they will move some, but I sleep with them in so they stay in okay. ANC is pretty good for non sealed buds. App is the same for iOS and Android. Putting them in is weird at first but you’ll get used to it. I can heartily recommend the Live Buds.

Bought these myself and I’m a bit surprised. I didn’t really expect there to be any body with these but even in standard they’re good. Of course they’re not audiophile grade, far from it, that’s the trade off with these tho. Most earbuds depend on the seal for good bass due to the tiny drivers, but these are not bad for an open air type buds.

Glad to see Shokz has made a cheaper version to their normal OpenFit. I have weird sensory things where if I can't hear my surrounds my brain kinda freaks out. Currently using Galaxy Buds Live but the battery on those has degraded a lot. Tried the Oladance OWS2 and Pro and those were ok, but the amp noise was nuts. Looking forward to trying these.
@ThatGenericCanadian

I tried the Oladance as well and couldn't deal with the amp buzz. My favourite open earbuds in terms of sound quality are the Sony Linkbuds, but they kept breaking on me, I had to RMA them 3 times in the year I had them (I tread my gear pretty nicely, I still have Sennheiser over head headphones from 2010ish that I haven't broke) and now that warranty was up I couldn't justify spending another $250CAD on something that I expect to break again. I've landed on the Shokz OpenFit, they're super comfy, sound better than the Oladance and have great battery life. Definitely recommend Shokz!

You aren't getting these because they sound excellent; you're getting them because they sound pretty good while still allowing you to hear your environment.

Def useful if you still like to hear your surroundings and don't like to be completely cancelled out for noise. If you want an actual earbud I think Airpods Pro 2 have the best Active Listening (terms of sounding close to normal w/o earbud). I have these Shokz and at 50% volume perfect sound, I can hear surroundings and music just fine. Snares could leak but honestly with ambient noises around no one should hear it unless its super quiet. Pushing 70% or using that treble boost does increase audio leakage, this is where you probably shouldn't go if the room you are in is super quiet.

My wife got me some weird "Lenovo x15 Pro" headphones that sit just like this and I freaking love them. Obviously the audio quality isn't amazing, but as someone who could never wear buds, I'll take ANYTHING at this point. We can go on walks and still talk while I have music playing, or I can go for a run and not have to worry about not hearing a car behind me. Did they fix/add easy auto connect to another device? ie. I have two of their products. Each of them has been paired with many of my devices but the most annoying thing about them is you need to disconnect with previous device before connecting with the next one (even if they're all already paired). You can't just initiate the connect from the next device. This is super annoying for a $200 product. My old earbuds from Samsung has easy connect and I can just connect with my laptop without having to go disconnect it first from my phone which could be in the next room or elsewhere in the house. If a $100 product can do this, they have no reason not to add this feature (if they haven't). Also, it's hard to hear someone talking to you if you have these open ear bone conduction headphones if you're listening to something. So it's not really "you can hear others". It's a mixed bag.

I also love the battery life (not sure on extended time, but I get a full 8-10hr work day on them) and the bluetooth range is great too. I can walk away about 30-40 yards away from my phone with them and not lose connectivity. I've found most of these are all based on similar technologies, so even though mine are a different brand, I bet the results are similar.

Obviously it does lose some of it because it's not sealed but I thought it would have been a more significant reduction in quality. The controls are a mixed bag, it's probably for the best that they are only hold or double tap to avoid accidental commands but buttons would be even better. Also any possible connectivity and battery issues won't be known until I've used them longterm. Initially though, I'm happy with the purchase.

I have shokz S810. There biggest design flaw is you cant change the ring tone volume... It is absolutely terrible.

open air is underrated. it is better than everything except bass. Comfort is all-day wearing vs in-ear or headphones. battery life much better than TWS. Can't easily lose these open airs. outdoor (even indoor use if you babysit take care children) use is topnotch because you can hear the environment clearly.

I could do with some earphones that won't keep slipping out of my sweaty ears, but blocking out the terrible gym music is kind of a big part of what makes listening to my own music possible.

You need to have a use case for them. They sound worse than headphones, or earbuds. But if you want something that won't fall off from your ears, something that allows you to still be aware of your surroundings (E.g. Riding a bicycle) they are awesome

Yep it’s annoying, sponsored vids are useless. I know Linus has said they don’t lie in them but we also don’t get the full truth.

I much prefer these type of earphones. I have tried everything from airpods to cheaper chinese alternatives. None of them stayed in my ears if I so much as dared to open my mouth while moving with them in. Now I got some cheap ones like these, which hooks behind the ears. They never fall out. It's great.

I had one of these. I ended up returning it because my Family could hear the music VERY LOUDLY and also the sound quality was not great. If they were cheaper it would be okay but they are WAY too expensive for what you're getting.

No in-person microphone testing at a busy road or anything... I had really hoped LMG would be one of the better reviewers of headsets and the like, where they'd test the phone call quality (microphone) proper testing out in the real world. Instead, they only occasionally do tests with music tracks of construction or busy store playing from the speakers, something that does not give an accurate example of how the microphone quality sounds...

The problem with all these products is that even if they’re really great quality and have better sound and noise cancelling, the software is going to suck due to Apple etc having a monopoly on their platform in terms of features

Why don't you ever cover type c earbuds? Their "battery" life is as long as your phone is charged, they are much cheaper, and you don't have to remember to recharge them.
