Time trialer here, the stats affect time trials in a massive way. I thought they would do it like in mk7, and with the cars on coconut mall in this game moving online but not in time trials, but they completely revamped the entire time trial format through this update. It sucks :/

Agree to disagree. While it's nice to finally see Mr. Troy playing the latest version of Mario Kart, rather than that old one from 2009, I believe that the Yoshi's Island track isn't actually that great, and all for one simple reason. There was no YOSHI!

I'll never get over how the Course Clear music plays for Yoshi's Island at the end of the race. That's such a nice touch on an already fantastic new track. Of course nostalgia prevails so DK Summit is my favourite wave 4 track, but Yoshi's Island is in a not too distant second for sure! Both visually stunning and fun to play on!

I think people never realised that zippers in MKWii gave mushroom boosts too, it's just now that mushroom boosts now have flames out of the wheels that people actually noticed how powerful the boosts are

Plus the fact that half pipes made you lose a lot of time when not doing certain techs was also a factor in why people didn’t realize

I think it probably helps that the jumps off half pipes are less floaty now. In Wii being airborne was bad since it slowed you down.

As someone who lives in Singapore, I can honestly say they nailed the track. All the major main city highlights are present and accounted for. From Marina Bay Sands to the Art-science Museum. Swimming in the infinity pool and going past the Merlion and the Gardens By the Bay. Nintendo definitely did justice by this track. Edit: I forgot to mention the Singapore wheel. That also was nice to see. The Chinatown also looks pretty good too. There’s honestly so much detail there that it’s amazing

they did such a good job with that track. It legit made me want to go visit there someday lol. The pool at the top of the building part I was especially transfixed by, I imagine it would be so cool just chillin in a pool on top of a tall building like that

Unfortunately that's where you have to be a hotel guest to swim there, and as you can probably imagine, the hotel on Marina Bay Sands is really expensive. But yeah, Singapore is a phenomenal place to visit. I've lived in SG for nearly 20+ years, so I can speak from experience it is definitely worth it.

Wave 4 is outstanding. I can’t believe how good these tracks are. We came all the way from toad circuit and tokyo blur to these cities tracks. I always complained about that in Tour lol. Especially Tokyo blur 1

If they’re planning to shut down Tour at some point I really think they should add an in game shop to use coins on alts, vehicles, wheels and gliders. There’s no way to use the coins you collect in this game and I feel that would be a great way to implement it, especially since you’re now also able to transfer any coins collected at Super Nintendo World directly to MK8 via the power up band.

Honestly Singapore might be my new favorite city track, and I only got to play it once last night (and it was the *only* Wave 4 track I, a non-BCPass owner, saw in matchmaking). Like, Tokyo, Sydney, London and Berlin, they're all nice and pretty interesting, but I think Singapore both has the best aesthetic and the best "setting", so to speak. The whole night-time light-show style fits MK8 like a glove (it's like MK Stadium is, after all), but what really gets me is the sheer verticality of it all. Going all the way up onto the big building with the pool, gliding back down over the soccer field, and then heading up and up and up the conveyors in lap 3, etc etc. It's great stuff.

As someone who lived in Singapore, its really similar to the tour version and is definitely a place worth visiting!! (If anyone ever visits, there's a water park called wild wild wet... Might be a fun adventure if you go there...)

I visited the city state as a stop off for a day both ways for a trip to Australia. I honestly love Singapore, and the fact that it has preserved a decent chunk of its jungle is the cherry ontop.

The petooies (walking piranha plants) in Riverside Park are usually blowing up shrooms and bananas you can take by hitting them with items, but for some reason you were playing with custom items so they didn't show up

@@patrickollenberger1616 every character in the game outside of the top tiers got a 0.25 speed boost, as well as some similar changes to vehicles Waluigi is still as good as he was before, but now there are arguments Rosalina is better considering her speed is now closer to his while having better mini-turbo

Mario Kart is featured HEAVILY in it, and there are loads and loads of cool easter eggs referencing the game mechanics, items, and of course, the Rainbow Road track. Overall, very happy with this wave. Waluigi Stadium is definitely my favourite of the bunch. Only criticism (other than graphics on some tracks) is that once again there is very little anti-gravity, when I think some sections could’ve benefited.

Because coloured yoshis exist but Birdo is always purple. So it's Birdo but coloured red, not a red Birdo.

If you have the online pass but no booster course pass, then you can still pick it online, just not local. I believe that is how that works.

I got an insane glitch on waluigi stadium the probably would have been a giant shortcut but I was bad and fell of imidietly but on 200cc you can go off the left side in a weird way after the mechanical pirahna plant section you get flung up into the air with good speed and probably could land on the ramp before the end

Amsterdam Drift feels like Moo Moo Meadows combined with Toad Hardbor, with good canal sections and very recognizable parts of Amsterdam and it's surrounding area like Zaanse Schans in Zaandam. The only detail I was missing is a couple bikes in the canals.

I live in (a suburb of) Tokyo and I wonder if it's because the devs think Tokyo is normal/boring. Some of the more "boring" parts are based on things that are considered cool by Tokyoites, like the 246 Bypass (driving in Tokyo's expressways is seriously cool in real life, especially if you usually walk/use public transport and don't see the city from that perspective often), but translate into just... driving on the road in Mario Kart. Then again, I think Mario Kart's devs are in Kyoto? I agree they could have easily made Tokyo cooler-- people go through the Kaminarimon gate (the big red gate) but the next part of the track could have been a ride through the nakamise the way we go through markets in Thailand. There could have been a glider section built around Skytree or something. It just feels like they took Tokyo as the "generic city" track, except Singapore feels like that concept executed way better.

@TWD98 London Loop does not have you on a hard paved road the whole time. Laps 2 and 3 have you going through Buckingham Palace, which is a dirt road.

Mario Circuit was always the Flower Cup Track in every Mario Kart Game, EXCEPT for Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart DS, because Super Mario Kart has 4 different Mario Circuits and Mario Kart DS has its version in the Star Cup

The only shortcut I can think of that works similarly to the Yoshi's Island one is in Hyrule Circuit, when you trigger the boost ramp by hitting the three anti-gravity bumpers after the glider, but that pales in comparison to what Nintendo did here! Also, I noticed that they removed the blue shell icon from the mini-map when it gets used. If that change wasn't a part of Wave 4, I wonder how long it's been in the game.
