Shortening aluminum driveshaft part 1

Funny, im doing an LS swap in my firebird and i have an aluminum driveshaft from a silverado. I got quoted 280 to shorten the drive shaft so im going to see if i can do this myself. It doesn't seem too difficult. Ill check out part 2

Any updates? Specifically "fitment" and by that I mean the diameter and getting the U joints to pair up with larger shaft and smaller receivers. Or are your trans / rear end same "truck" size? Bare with my ignorance please. I have a perfect (to long) aluminum shaft in my van I am pulling 6.0 out of for my 3rd gen LS swap. Thanks
