This also explains why the radical left believes meritocracy is whiteness - they view not being able to compete on a level playing field as an inherently black quality. No wonder Kanye says they've got a slave mentality.

I'm not justifying black/brown face just so yall know. I get why they would like an original character to stay mostly the same, personal example: I was confused and a little made when they try to reskin old characters by making Riri Williams, the new Batgirl, She Hulk, and thought about new Superman being cast by Michael B Jordan, instead of just making new original stories. However, if the can do all of the above things to original characters in official comics and movies, why hate on a fun little fan art that makes them a shade lighter. To me, art is objective. It's ment to simply be a for of expressing passion and ideas. So if a random Tumblr wants to draw a black character in pastels, it should be fine. If the woke want to reskin old characters, i like that, just make it awesome instead of changed for the sake of being a thematic mouth piece for their own f&^%ed up ideologies. Savvy?

For the most part, I don't see dark skinned anime characters as black. Black people don't have hair, or eyes or noses like those. There's a whole subculture of japanese people who tan their skin called Ganguro. Bring Nessa into real life and she'd look a little like that.
@someguy4384
@someguy4384 4 жыл бұрын
@@ofthecaribbean Japan is also home to a lot of different ethnicities. I believe there actually is a small group of darker skinned Japanese citizens, from the southern islands. A short google search gives conflicting results, but the general consensus is that the Japanese are not as ethnically similar as most other countries, and of those ethnicities, the southern most islands and people's seem to be the darker skinned of the nation.
@TheSpecialJ11
@TheSpecialJ11 2 ай бұрын
@@someguy4384What's interesting about Japanese history is the modern Japanese ethnic group is actually a genetic mix of a pre-existing hunter-gatherer group and a farming population that migrated to the island. This could be why some Japanese people don't look stereotypically Japanese to us outsiders, because their genetics just happen to be way more in one direction, like the phenomenon of "white" north Indians and Pakistanis. They're "white" because the area had a large migration of Indo-Iranians at one point in history, and some individuals end up with way more expression of that DNA. And yeah, Japanese people from southern areas tend to have darker skin, and Okinawans are straight up considered their own ethnic group.

@@angrybellsprout It's more nuanced than that. Let me get my beanie. Baizuo is a derogatory Chinese neologism and political epithet used to refer to Western left-wing ideologies. Pretentiousness, hypocritical behavior and an overbearing sense of entitlement. Baizuos are mostly characterized by their heavy use of political correctness and double standards to covertly advance their own material or emotional interests at the expense of others, while claiming otherwise from a self-assumed superior moral position. Some are truly non-malicious, but are too naive or lack the worldview to provide useful opinions or solutions to real societal problems. Since most of these group is white (白)and left-(liberal) leaning(左), and thus the name. The Western Left is such a pain in the ass that the Chinese invented a slur for them. Don't forget Jews, it's okay to be racist against Jews, that is unless it's not. The left treats Jews and East Asians paradoxically. They treat them like "oppressed minorities" when they agree with them or when it suits them, but as soon as it doesn't, Jews are just called white people and East Asians are considered "white adjacent." I swear the left decries racism against Jews out of one side of their mouth, and then out of the other side, they say treat them horribly in a racist manner, usually because brown Muslims are higher up the progressive stack.

Devo, important point on ghost in the shell: all the sjws keep bringing up ghost in the shell as an example of whitewashing, but that's simply not true, even by their logic: the main character in the ghost in the shell anime was not meant to look like a Japanese woman. If you actually look at comparison Screenshots, you can see that the casting for the main character was really on point. Its important, because I never watched the ghost in the shell anime, but neither have they. I know this information only because I looked up what the MC looks like. Their argument RELIES on the public not knowing the original anime, because it is at worst a lie and at best a parroted NPC talking point.

yeah i'm black and never understood that growing up like my mom. she has a problem when some white people were messing with her and yes said white people were being racist towards her to make a long story short. my mom used to work as a qma and most of the places she went to had mostly white people in it and both the staff and the residents were being racist towards her when she was driving home telling me she was being transferred or something to a new nursing home she exclaimed that she was happy because that the new nursing home forgot the name had no white people in it and that she wouldn't be going through racism. at the time when she told me this over the phone i couldn't call her out on it of course with me it takes me a long time to think of a come back or a way to word it properly. so finally after almost 3 months later i had came up with a perfect counter to her comment 3 months prior. keep in mind i didn't actually tell her off but something i thought up. (so you don't like it when the other white qma follow you around and accuses you of stealing something or whatever not because of their stupid opinion about you but because of their race right? well then if you feel that way about them then that must mean the way they feel about you is acceptable. think about it you judge them only off their race and get upset when it's a white person doing this knowing full well this scenario can and does happen with people of the same race) (so if your only scared/upset that white people are looking down at you it's only fair to validate their fears am i right? i mean they don't know who you are never meet you so to them looking behind you purely because of your race is fair like how you hate them because of their race even though you've never stolen anything at any job you've worked at before but to keep it fair i validate both you and their opinions don't wanna look racist now right?) now after typing all of this out kinda wish i would've told her that to her face, but yeah if your gonna be racist but at the exact same time don't like it when people are being racist to you then don't be a racist.

I'm a Brit, and my surname is derived from Old English and Norse. Pronouncing it sounds like one is choking on gristle. Even most English speakers struggle to say it. It's annoying, but hey, there are worse problems. I'm also learning Japanese, and have practiced trying to introduce myself. Japanese lacks a lot of sounds present in English (V, L, Th, etc.), and so my name cannot be written or spoken in Japanese. Is that racist? Of course not.

Arguably, no. Perhaps the best time was right before the Great Society started, as this was a time where the black crime rate was decreasing, wealth was increasing, and the vast majority of black americans were being raised by both their mother and father. They still had to deal with racism, as this was the time of MLK, but still. Nowadays, most black americans don’t know their father and the crime rate is insane.

I've never understood "cultural appropriation". Most of the time people use it when people are appreciating culture, like in the kimono example. Now if the person was squinting his eyes and talking and acting "like a Japanese person", that would be offensive. Why call it something else when we already have a word for it (racist). It's all rather silly and takes away from the efforts of people who are actually trying to get closer to, and appreciate more, other cultures.

Why do people even take it at face value that nessa is black just because some clowns on Twitter said so because they wanted to claim a popular character as one of them? Black refers to a person of African origin specifically, not every dark skinned person is "black". Why can't nessa be south Asian? She more closely resembles an Indian woman than an African woman. Some Indians have really dark skin and they naturally have straight hair like nessa. Straight hair is not a natural trait of African people, they have to get their hair straightened. Isn't it more reasonable to make the least amount of assumptions? Which is more reasonable? She straightens her hair artificially, or that's just how it is naturally?
