Believe it or not, *NOT* everyone knows. A few times a year I incidentally end up in one of these conversations, and I point out something like: "do you realize that white people, including unarmed white people, are proportionally *more* likely to get shot by police during a traffic stop than black people?" [fact] and invariably the response is "wait, what, is that true?" (I guess if I was around typical people who don't know me I'd just be vehemently called a liar, but luckily I don't associate with morons who don't know me to... well, not totally make stuff up.) But, literally... the *truth* behind the statistics is almost completely unknown, and the majority of people out there will plug their ears and scream at you if you try telling them. Ever since an unfortunate slew of political assassinations and misguided wars during the Civil Rights era, Americans have been socialized to hate anything American, and a fundamental part of that position is the assumption that all the tragedies are due to the fundamentally heartless nature of whitey... taken for granted. It's ofc by design: it ensures the real problems (poverty, corrupted cultures, mental health, anger issues, demonization of others) won't ever be fixed, such that government is provided the excuse to forever grow to control behavior. (I think it should be noted that I don't think whites are proportionately more likely to be shot by police is due to some hatred of whites or love of blacks, but what some would argue is an undercurrent of racism, but I'd say is police being [sometimes subconsciously] familiar with their jobs... they're *far* less likely to pull over white people with no good reason than they are black people, so they're far more likely, *proportionally,* to end up with a violent white criminal at their hands, and disproportionately more likely to end up with totally innocent black drivers... but they do it, ofc, because there is more policing in high-crime [black] areas, and they're aware of who is, in sheer volume, more likely to be criminal...)

These are the same morons who go to buy a gun and are shocked that they have to pass a UNIVERSAL BACKGROUND CHECK every time you walk in to a gun store to buy a gun. For instance, there was some hack journo who wanted to prove a point that it was easy to buy a gun only to be denied when the background check came back that not only did he have a felony domestic battery on record but was classified as a habitual drunkard, two things that will deny you from owning a gun, IN EVERY STATE!

Hadn't heard of any of those. The one I heard of was Tony Timpa, in regards to knee on neck deaths. Kate Steinle's death is the most absurd race based miscarriage of justice I personally know of.

A young woman named Kate Steinle gets hit 4 times and dies. Killer gets caught, turns out he's an illegal immigrant with a long rap sheet. Trump tweets his outrage (back when sanctuary cities were the big thing in the news) and the mainstream media immediately puts themselves on the killer's side then go quiet. It gets worse. The killer changes his story 4-5 times and eventually settles on "I didn't know pulling the trigger would make the gun shoot." For political reasons the judge accepts that argument but throws him in jail for a few months because handling a firearm violated his parole. All because San Francisco was having a pissing contest with Trump.
