Chimpanzees are not animals that can be pets. They get pretty violent when they mature, which is normal for the species due to the hormonal changes and how their dynamics in groups work. Many people have tried and it ended horribly with life-altering injuries, including a case of someone having their face ripped off (I do not recommend looking up the photos if you want to sleep sometime this week). A re-education program or some sort of integration program, so they can live with a troop would be much better for the animals.

Are you nuts?! That chimp isn't finished growing yet (male chimps can grow up to 4'11" and weigh 88-154 lb) and as pets, with all the love in the world, are aggressive WILD animals. Their strength and aggression can be deadly to whoever thought it was a good idea to make them a pet. There's a reason it's illegal to have a chimp as a pet. Intelligence doesn't make them "safe" pets.

This little guy instantly made me cry the very second the narrator explained he was depressed and nobody played with him. 😢 I see depressed monkeys paired with dogs for instance because apparently it’s about ‘companionship’ so a playmate doesn’t necessarily needs to be another monkey. Also I was wondering if monkeys get medication for depression because oddly enough I started showing autistic symptoms when put on meds for depression.
