Before the mid-June operator sign up, a shorty bus (either #2954 or #2957) operates one exclusive trip on the 121 from Skyline College to Daly City after it finishes its day run on the 142 (recall that 142 ends service at around 6pm). This bus deadheads from SFO AirTrain to Skyline College using Sneath Lane and some other local streets, and then leaves Skyline college at around 7:35pm.
Even though this trend no longer exists as that trip is now operated by a regular diesel bus, shorties still remain on the 142 everyday, with operators changing their shifts at AirTrain by a SamTrans mobile car. Interesting enough, this operator’s last trip of his day will be this 121 trip, after that he drives this shorty back to North Base instead of going back on a mobile car. For some reason SamTrans no longer put shorties on other routes, which my guess might be due to maintenance, just so the two shorties can guaranteed to be in service for the next day.
