Vanessa's husband was never dead. It's just an urban legend. The following is from the from the KOF2000 Hero Team story (remember those stories that give background info about the participating teams? you can still find them on the internet), Vanessa replying to her driver: " 'Yes, we have reservations for dinner. But it's okay. It looks like we can do this without having to cancel it.' The woman finishes her preparations as she looks toward the hall from her car window." She's referring to her family. There's no mention of a dead husband, and no reason to assume he is dead.

Best fighting milfu ever. KOF 2000 may be my favorite entry in the series, and I love the main team from that game. You got K and Maxima, the boys, Ramon who is so much fun, and Vanessa who as this video has summed up is great. I'd love to see more done with her in-game. The best boxing animations in fighting games period. SNK performed amazing work conveying the speed and strength of Vanessa's punches. She is easily one of my favorite King of Fighter's characters in terms of fighting style next to Kim, Robert, Jhun, Luong, May Lee, and King. It also helps that she's a genuinely unique character as her personality helps her stand out among the female characters in the cast.

But given that Rick appeared in older games, I still hand it to Vanessa for having higher quality animations. It's all a matter of preference at this point, but Rick deserves some love for sure.

Ah Vanessa, the one character ET likes to set as his team's anchor so that he can get the meter needed to perform her ToD combos. SNK did a good job with her model in XIV where you can "see" her age, and her voice actress did a great job too. She sounds really funny when she cancels an attack or when she gets hit by a CD. I wonder if you are intentionally doing the lore of every character with a connection to Heidern before you do Heidern's lore video himself. That would be pretty cool actually. I can wait hehehe.

Vanessa sticks out to me a lot. She’s older than what most fighting games will typically have their female characters at, she’s fairly attractive but not overly exposed nor developed, and I think to this day, she’s the only female boxer I know in the genre. She’s also fairly strong as well, since for a human, she’s can stand up to beings capable of manipulating fire, shooting energy projectiles, and wielding psychic abilities, so I wouldn’t worry too much about her encounter with Ryuji. He looks like a nice guy, anyway. XD Thanks for making a video for her. She is truly the canonical queen of fighters.

Did well in kof 2000? I think you forgot to mention she handed benimaru his first official L. Also, love the video. She's also 6ft tall and strong AF. Topped off with her speed, precision and technique. The fact that she's one of the only boxing characters I've seen in a fighting game who employs the dempsey roll is impressive and a staple of her mastery. On top of her age and her line of work, as well as winning her first tournament she entered, it might be fair to assume she's among the most skilled and formidable female fighters in the franchise (Heck, I'd argue in most of gaming and fiction, especially with regards to her being a standard, street level human, but that's just my opinion).

I've been always curious to know where the idea of Vanessa being a widow comes from, since, as one can check by going to the KOF anniversary site and looking at 00's Team stories, her husband has always been alive in the canon. I too, was under the idea she was a widow so I assumed that her husband revived after Ash's comic retcon since he's mentioned in her XIV bio, but nope, he has always been alive. And yet, nearly everyone familiar with the series will tell you about her being a widow. So weird. Anyways, keep up the good work and I hope to see you tackle all the team members of Team Mexico whether be as a group as individually since they're my favorite KOF characters ever.

there's a real life example to vanessa's primary fighting style of boxing called boxer puncher, a combination of a slugger, a swarmer & a out boxer, it's true dudley of street fighter does also fit within this category however when it comes down to the sub fighting styles of boxing (which both also use) is where they differ as dudley would be consider a counter puncher & as to vanessa using south paw. there other combinations of primary & sub styles of boxing that are used by other characters within the fighting game genre for example mickey rogers (a.o.f) [out boxer+southpaw], rick strowd (fatal fury) [swarmer+counter puncher], heavy d (the king of fighters) [out boxer+counter puncher], balrog (s.f) [slugger+counter puncher], shen woo (the king of fighters) [slugger+switch hitter], steve fox (tekken) [out boxer+switch hitter], nelson (the king of fighters) [swarmer+south paw] etc. what makes vanessa & dudley stood out among the rest is they use the least most utilize primary boxing style which not only makes them unique but also 1 of a kind within their respected franchises

When I saw her the first time in 2000, I oddly got attached to her almost immediately for how she coincidentally be so close to my original mascot character Milen Anessar (Yes, I still use that name and character to portray myself as you can see in my account name). Aside from just different hair color, she has striking similar hairstyle, lively personality, fight with bare fist (and gloves), has fairly large breasts, and is not a teenager that has kids (Well.... I always had a thing for boxers chars in fighting games (like Dudley) so when i started to play a bit a few months ago in KoF02um, i played her and feel in love, she got everything to me. style, grace, and being an attractive older woman (have a thing for older women) also an amazing theme in 14 she is easily my favorite char in KoF, then later got the dlc for her in 14 and enjoyed her even more, and also found Nelson who is also great to me. I wholeheartedly pray to the gods that these two make it in 15 as the base roster and strong. I dont know heavy D but if he plays like Dudley, Vanessa, or Nelson i would welcome him in too (but really want Vanessa if i have to make a choice).
