This is something lost in the modern Aikido which focuses mainly on putting up a nice choreographed display most apparent with Aikikai. Thanks to the great Master Gozo Shioda who imparted everything to his students. They are all as good as him now. And they are generous in presenting to the world. This is what I would call respect.

If you watch his technique closely his center drops first then his hips adjust. He is actually using very little arm. He appears to be mainly using his hips with these muscle groups the hips are much stronger than the upper body. That’s why the pressure is so god awful. I bet his pins feel like you h e a mountain sitting on your arms and back. Amazing amazing skill.

very nice video, with so many small details about sokumen iriminage. Ando looks powerfull!
Why do people come on here and bad mouth an entire art when they apparently have never even taken a class? Its ridiculous! This class he is teaching body positioning within a set technique to maximize taking balance. This not a practical self defense class on Aikido. Furthermore, this is YOSHINKAN AIKIDO and I assure you this form of Aikido is probably the most effective in combat or practical use. If you never felt this, be silent, it makes you look foolish to all that have actually trained it.

Would be even better if it had English translation, I was kind of guessing what he was saying
@RaymondYan0074 жыл бұрын
Actually he isn't almost say anything special. But around (7:25~7:35), he said,"You shouldn't do this technique like this, you should drop your shoulder." What he meant after that is "Don't use your arm muscles, use your waist movement when you do this technique.".

I have yet to see a single aikido demonstration that looks 'real world.' It seems like such a potentially devastating martial art, but there seems to be no interest on the part of its practitioners to explore realistic applications. Very frustrating. Ver

+StudSupreme Check out Lenny Sly's videos. He runs a place up in Chicago that does real-world self-defense based on Aikido, and he's got some really great videos posted online. His channel is called "The Rogue Warriors" something-or-other.

+Aikido Yoshinkan He said "real world" which implies at the minimal street self defense, not necessarily MMA. And to answer the question, from what I've heard. Aikido can be effective if you train another martial art that practices realistically. There's judoka that also trains aikido, and he can manage to use these aikido moves in an "alive" way.

+StudSupreme Have you ever seen people advertise aikido in a manner that even approaches how to fight or defend? Some variants might but aikido itself should be compared to the likes of taichi. And if you look closely at every comment ever written on youtube, no real practitioner of aikido goes around bragging about how formidable aikido is because its not a contest. In saying that I in no way imply that it is better than any martial art, I'm just saying that it is our way to leave competition behind because it is done for peace and wellbeing. So if you're looking for "real world application" for pure aikido or aikido vs (insert martial art here), you won't find it because aikido itself is build on the philosophy of peace and humidity.

That is yoshinkan aikido.. it's basically the aikido which ueshiba taught when he was at his peak (before the war).. Most of the aikido today are not so effective because it has become more like a religious practice.
@The_Third_Feather4 жыл бұрын
@@BlueCollarEngineer111 I would argue that Birankai is also highly effective, for similar reasons. The focus on body placement for any and all techniques (ie using body mechanics to the greatest effect possible) seems to be here in this video of yoshinkan aikido, as well as in what little I've learned in my short time in a Birankai dojo.

It is always funny when people see something brutal and call it realistic whidout even try to understand how technique works and forget about this is presentation not a fight.

To StudSupreme: what we see on the video, it's a classe about the basic principles of some technics, not how to use it in real or even completely. The aikido praticionners aren't disponible to demonstrate how to fight. (Sorry about my english, but it's not my mother language). Saludos

To StudSupreme... If you want do see a "single aikido demonstration that looks REAL WORLD, try to tuch a Aikidoka like the one as Ando Tsuneo or other one like him". That's a very ease to see what you want to see... / What you see here, is a lesson of details that the Aikidokas must learn. Be safe and a long life to you.

@juanmiguelparraleon98139 жыл бұрын
