Late to the show, but this “sound” is why so many people think Sho is a soprano, when she’s actually an alto. Mariah is too, but she lives in a very comfortable head voice. I don’t know who to blame for these head voice, falsetto obsessions. I agree with you. A chest-y tone probably would have left room for those vocal acrobatics at the end. Nowhere to go but down, when you start so high up.

Kabelo Moagi It's a magnificent performance. Is it absolute, technical vocal perfection? Yes, sometimes. This is live. One take. Accomplished as Mariah Carey is, she has never been good live; at her very best she could never do this song live in front of an audience. In her current condition she could barely handle Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I will acknowledge (and treasure) Mariah Carey's best work in the studio. But this is extraordinary and worthy of better than your sneering disrespect.

She gets nervous and cracks here and there in Live TV performances but not on her own shows. Check out her latest performances off the Caution tour and come back to me. And Mariah has sung Mine Again Live -twas during the 'Adventures of Mimi Tour' back in '05-'07. Conclusion: Mariah is often imitated but never duplicated. And that's the 🍵!
