Questions to always ask a Duck guide before putting down a deposit. 1. Do you plan to shoot your gun too, if so are you shooting first or last? 2. If you do plan to shoot and a band is shot when i or another paying client has shot too, will you be taking the band? If the answer to the first question is yes I am already half way out the door. And for sure all the way, if there is any hesitation to say "not a chance" to the second.
@chaseholland33922 жыл бұрын
Here’s the thing. It’s one thing to say that pdiddy ‘deserves’ that band, and what would be a cool gesture for a client to do. Any bird in those 15 years he’s been hunting that spot could’ve been banded. But they weren’t. Your clients pay hundreds of dollars to come hunt with you, and not only do you shoot birds they could shoot(I literally couldn’t care less they shoot lots of wood ducks, you’re there to guide them) but now you want them to give up a band one of them could have as a memory from their PAID HUNT. I really like you bob and I enjoy your videos but there’s been a bit of selfishness recently in the way you’ve been treating the clients on their hunts. Regardless of whether or not they want you to hunt with them or they say they’re okay with you shooting birds, it’s a bad look on you and your guides’ parts to be shooting on their paid hunts or laying claim to any bird taken by a group of clients
@ourtimeourspeed2 жыл бұрын
Truth. I enjoy their videos but I swear they pick and choose clients birds all the time. I’m almost positive 80% of the birds mounted in the Sandhill flyway lodge are clients birds and not even birds the guides shot. It’s weird. I’d never use their service.

i get where a lot of these comments are coming from but y’all got to give the guy a break. Yeah the kids pay a bunch of money for the hunt but if i was shooting wood ducks year round and my guide asked if it was okay for him to shoot a wood duck because he’s looking to mount one i would have no problem with it despite how much i paid to hunt. It’s not all about shooting as much as you can and limiting out every single day when you’re on these guided hunts, i do them personally for the experience. Getting to go out of state, shoot ducks you don’t NORMALLY shoot, hunt with one of your favorite youtubers, and if you kill a limit, sweet. These guys do guides hunts all season long so it’s not like that have very much time to go seek that wall hanger in their free time, they have no free time. Once one guided hunt is over, they have to get ready for the next one. Anyways, keep grinding Bobby, I personally appreciate how much time you put into this that you don’t necessarily have to.

I agree with him being able to keep it and mount it for his grandfather's cabin. Congratulations to Bobby on getting his first wood duck of the year. One of the most beautiful birds out there. Chris.......I,ve been waterfowl hunting prbly twice as long as you are old..58 years now, started when I was 9, 67 now....went out with friends for a night shoot, I thought this is pretty cool, then I found out that Johnny law does not approve of that...he let us go,,,,. ha !...I wish I was young again like you and know what I know now....Ive seen it all, from dogs so cold they fall off the dog stand even with a vest on.... to warm hunting, that no vest is required. I used to hunt about 80 days out of a hundred day season..... now I cut it back only about 55 days now...... bottom line is your dog will last longer and you'll have more dog at the end of the hunt if you take care of him during the hunt....if you've ever flipped your dog over you'll notice they don't have alotta fur on their belly and inner rear legs.... they lose alotta heat there so that means you conserve it where you can and that means you used a perfect fitting vest, not loose or not tight and trimmed as to not create skin blisters from rubbing...... plus give rover a little food before the hunt...not a full feeding but maybe 1/2.. if really cold bring snacks for rover, he may not eat them but he prbly will........ your dog will live longer for all that and towards the end of your hunt if you cripple one you'll have some dog left to make a difficult retrieve.....Good luck !
