SHOT PUT Jacko GILL 2015

Even if he is not anymore the phenomenal thrower he was in the Youth and Junior age groups , Jacko GILL is still only 20 years old and able of top class performances .Last march in Brisbane , he competed for the 1st time in the Australian open champs and won them easily from Damian BIRKENHEAD with a new PB throw of 20,75m , 5cm further than what he did in 2014 in the Oceania champs. He will also compete in his first senior world champs in BEIJING later this season. The best opportunity to show how good he is really in front of countryman Tom WALSH and of the best world throwers of the moment. Jacko has changed a lot since three years , not only his strength and morphology but also his technique . This video from a good warm up throw just a few minutes before the Melbourne competition shows clearly these changes and the "2015" evolution of the all time world best young shot putter still at the beginning of his senior career. There is no personal analysis and coaches comments as I don't want to influence the viewers .It is possible for anybody to make their own comparisons ,analysis and comments using other videos from this web site . The good thing is that Jacko is still completely dedicated to shot put . And one cannot blame him for trying things or picking them from other more famous throwers. Every change , whatever technical or physical can have positive and negative effects to the performance . It is impossible to know before trying and so far you are able to be critical with yourself and come back when something does not bring the expected improvements , then you still have a chance to build your OWN technique and not become a copy of others . Building a technique is like building a house : everybody uses the same materials , brick and cement or human body etc... but some build castles and others ugly and uncomfortable "constructions" !

Jacko will throw 22+. Just a matter of time. He's allready World Champion in dedication.

There are of course some technical issues, primarely during the entry, where his arm is almost in front of his right shoulder (lack of tension). During 'the suspense' his right foot shoult rotate almost parallel to the ground (not moving it vertically as he does, which will decrease speed). His delivery is excellent though!

before, with his old technique, he seemed to have more freedom to go fast and powerfull, this one looks a bit odd, i don't see a greater momentum than the old technique, his best charateristic was his speed, but now it looks so restrictive and like trying to do a movement from a paper, that he doesn't look that much comfortable anymore. BUT, i'm glad he is back :)

Pugile MuotoBene the only argument i can make about it, it that with his old technique he threw 20 and close to it at a very young age, maybe he just needed tl get used to it, a radical change in his technique probably and imo, it wasn't needed.

Pugile MuotoBene couldn't agree more with you, i'm not sure if he is working with pope either, i hope so thou, no coach knows him more than him.

+Khotta Bogard I think he stopped working with Pope ages ago and combined with him leaving school early and going big on the weights his technique has suffered. Happened to a guy in the uk in discus. Benching 20kg more but losing 4M on the discus
