Usually your smaller companies like KNS are staffed by people who are more likely to know the products from a design and usage angle. The staff at booths for the larger companies seem to be more of the marketing drone or management sort who pick themselves for the free Vegas vacation rather than the peons who actually have the knowledge to speak in depth.

It's not drop in though. You have to manually attach it to your bolt carrier, meaning you have to remove the piston you already have.

I would imagine that to be a definite yes - some parts & areas of rifles (or anything else 'engineered') are designed or allowed to flex, others are tolerated to be able to flex in places, while other components and areas are required not to flex - all depends on what sort of harmonic/resonance is wanted or unwanted in that region.
@TheBitwise6 жыл бұрын
Even without jams, I imagine unnecessary wear and/or parts breakage would be worse without those tolerances.

@troy94776 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a good idea. I imagine there is a good reason why some rifles, like the FAL, havce a certain amount of adjustment in their gas system. Certainly an over-gassed rifle needs this to prolong part life and overall service life. Great video, guys. Thanks
@Jesses0016 жыл бұрын
I never thought this possible because it is just too much darn work to make a universal system that works with most AKs. I guess someone decided to take up that challenge. Better them then me, ha. I might pick one up someday. I do not really need it for any of my AKs, but hey, maybe I get some sub sonic ammo one of my AKs does not like someday.

I can definitely see this working for folks with those new Galil Ace rifles. Many people report them to be really overgassed and in fact, suppressor would result in cycling malfunctions. This can seem like a remedy for those folks.
@drmaudio6 жыл бұрын
Very cool. If KNS happens to see this, I wonder how you have addressed two possible issues: 1. One would think the adjustment would want to walk out. 2. It seems it would carbon up pretty quickly and make adjustment difficult.
@comderbob6 жыл бұрын
The clicking noise when they're playing with the system appears to be from a detent that runs axially on the adjustment thread. Though I cant figure out where the detent is located. And carbon fouling can be handled with a proper coating on the parts.
@HalcyonDefense6 жыл бұрын
The adjustment detents and their forces are radial, the recoil is axial, so the linear acceleration has no effect on the adjustment lock. If you find videos or pictures from our first prototype - you can see that we used a compression spring in the axial direction and we DID have issues with it drifting. By moving to a radial detent system, we solved that issue completely AND reduced parts count at the same time, so that worked out well. As fas as carbon goes - we ran it for 2500 rounds of that nasty yugo M67 corrosive ammo through the full auto AK WITH a suppressor without adjusting or cleaning the piston. Afterwards, it had some nasty gunk on it that seems to be unique to that ammo - but the ports were clear and functioning, and the adjustment collar moved by hand. We really tried to break this thing, worst ammo, irresponsible sustained full auto fire while suppressed, etc......the piston and the host gun just keep on chugging. The main first prototype has in excess of 4500 rounds on it so far with no physical damage, and it's not even hardened/nitrided.

@TheLoveLess1236 жыл бұрын
Would this work in a PSL?
@HalcyonDefense6 жыл бұрын
Yes, and it is one of the more dramatic changes - too bad they are not importing them anymore. This piston, a Dead Air Wolverine can, and a nice trigger really turns the PSL into something nice to shoot. We were testing the piston in our shop PSL with Winchester brass-cased 180 grain ammo with the Wolverine. It was dropping brass 6ft away, locking open on empty, and not a mark on the cases save for where they bounced off the top cover on ejection. 100% undamaged and reloadable. Bolt velocity was nice and slow, just a joy to shoot compared to factory.
@knsprecisioninc.17516 жыл бұрын
Yes. The PSL version is available.
@Ratty986 жыл бұрын
Its weird seeing a AK shoot that slow or is that just me
@knsprecisioninc.17516 жыл бұрын
The piston really changes the whole dynamic. The slow rate of fire is a result of the carrier coming back slower and not bouncing off the rear trunion. The felt recoil is softer, the gun is quieter, and it runs slower.
@petesheppard17096 жыл бұрын
When will the RAS47 and IO versions be out???
@rcairnut6 жыл бұрын
they already have a solution for these 2, you can weld the piston into the gas tube and all will be well

Recycle...get some use for the metal
@0neDoomedSpaceMarine6 жыл бұрын
We're joking around, but I think dialing down the gas on RAS47 junker would do a lot to make it safer and not batter itself. They're more overgassed than normal and are brittle in construction. It's still a garbage rifle, but it won't break. Probably.

@adam-k6 жыл бұрын
The point I wanted to make is that 99% of people in the US, who buys AR or AK in the commercial market, is shooting their guns recreationaly and likely to have multiple guns .Performance, modularity and weather sealing, has very little to do what guns they choose, unless performance is their goal. (ie. they compete) Most people dont go to an open range when it is pouring rain and dont dump their gun in the mud.

I don't like it. Zastava has an adjustable gas system on their AKs. They just insert it into the front of the gas tube so you don't have to REMOVE YOUR BOLT to adjust it. 10/10 for engineering. 0/10 for ease of use and cost.
@johnspurlock45776 жыл бұрын
Lex Edmonds soo punching out a pin and punching a new one in is hard? And 100$ to run your ak suppressed with less gas in your face is too much?
