First time I've ever seen a firearm restoration involve a 3D printer. I know that FOSSCAD for firearms itself is controversial due to some bad actors, but as a method of restoration and preservation of older firearms, I think it's quite beautiful that we can share and immediately construct parts that would have otherwise relied on 2D blueprints and expensive injection molds. Here's to hoping that the technology may find itself in other preservationists' toolsets for years to come!
@KIRBYBOX3602 жыл бұрын
I don't think he ended up using the 3D printed part. You can see a seam line typical for injection molds on the new forearm (10:43). Impressive restauration still.
@Shep012 жыл бұрын
honestly 3d printing parts is the way to go for stuff you can't easily or cheaply get. you can literally do anything that is injection molded. mostly though I see rail accessories. think boot leg Magpul stuff etc.

fantastic work, careful using too much white PLA on your printer. your nozzle will die(blowout) faster.
@_.dso02 жыл бұрын
Yea it sure will those things arent cheap either🤦🏾
@Kanoinoo2 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about, standard pla is the last thing that wears your nozzle out fast. Mine has lasted for half a year, even using some abrasive stuff sometimes. Also new Nozzles are dirt cheap, if you print like a maniac you might have to replace it after 1 or 2 months but new ones only cost like 10 Dollars
@TheRawketLawnchair2 жыл бұрын
@@Kanoinoo white pla is not standard pla. It's an exotic pla.. to get it to be white they add titanium dioxide and that stuff is abrasive. This is why really good white model paint is sometimes chuncky compare to the other colors within those brand of paints. And the issue about nozzle is not price its trying to avoid sudden blown out nozzle while printing. It will cause print issues.
