I use the AA for my 12 gauge semi and my 20 gauge O/U. 12 gauge I use the exact same ammo you had at the end. 20 gauge, it’s the exact same load but it’s 3 dram and 7/8 ounce of 7 1/2 shot. Travels the same 1300 fps. $12 per box or so is better than the $10 per box being spent on lesser ammo that has more issues. Great video and it reinforced my thoughts I’ve had when I shoot clays.

I think you done a better than outstanding job Bigdaddy...I've been shooting shotguns since I was 10 years old,this is very good information.One thing though Bigdaddy,Este te ammo is made by Federal ammunition company,Estate is basically a lower price version of Federal ammunition,the quality is every bit as good,but you pay a little bit less price for the same exact loads.They use CCI primers same as the federal loads do...Oohrah!!. GOOD STUFF!!.

Great video with a lot of good information. I have done lots of testing with loads while shooting sporting clays and trying to get an advantage on some buddies that shoot better than I do. One thing that will make a difference in your choice of shells is your gun. I have used a Remington 1100 and I recently bought me a Beretta A390, I agree with Big Daddy on the Estate (cheap and they work). The 1100 would have cycling issues with any rounds less than 3 dram. The A390 will feed anything and spit it out, never has jammed. Both are semi's so they shoot real soft. Now, if you have an older Fox double barrel or even a nice over under you may not want to go cramming the 3 1/4 and 1 1/8 (oz weight affects recoil too) shells in it, and you will most likely be sorry after about 100 rounds if shooting skeet/clays etc. as it is going to kick the crap out of you lol... The 3 dram Remington Gun Club shells also are cheap and work well. Just my .02....
@genesmiley37274 жыл бұрын
Good video, I would like to add that you should also pay attention to hull material. My Girsan will cycle 3 dram Remmington clay and field loads with ease. They have the smooth plastic shell with brass base. But, it will choke on Winchester 3 dram loads with the aluminum base. It does a little better with the Estate polished steel base shells, but not much. I can even move up to Winchester 3 1/2 dram aluminum base shells and it will jam. The brass base expands and contracts more uniformly than aluminum, thus it extracts better. I even have trouble out of my pump guns with aluminum base shells. A good chamber polish will sometimes help with aluminum. ps, I bought the ASI Ultramax shotgun off of your recommendation. On sale for $150.00. May buy another.

Thanks for a great vid. I got a question for you. First, I don't hunt, I only target shoot. Usually paper targets at 25 yards or less. So many of the shot gun rounds are listed for "game" or "game/target" or "target" rounds. Should I stay with buying only "target" rounds, or is the "game/target" rounds ok to shoot at paper? May be a dumb question, but I`m kind of new to shot gun shooting. Thanks man.

Just be aware that 1300 FPS 1 1/8 oz. shells are not allowed in ATA comps, 1290 FPS is the limit for 1 1/8 oz. shells. My son is on a shotgun shooting team (he’s 12, started at age 10) and shoots in some ATA comps, almost used those very AA shells until I checked the rules and found out they’re not allowed.

Hey Big Daddy, This was really good info to know.. I had problem in my Benelli and my Saiga using the independence ammo and it says that it is 1200 FPS. Is it still under powered ammo? I stopped using it last winter and started with the Winchester and it seems to feed well with the 3 dram eq.
@bigdaddyhoffman191110 жыл бұрын
That Independence ammo says 3 dram and 1200 FPS but it's horrible ammo, had the same problem. The Winchester AA and Estate 3 1/4 dram works in all my shotguns. Keep enjoying the Benelli and Saiga......Thanks!!!!

I've got a Remington 1100 in 3" magnum. Heard that the gun doesn't cycle well with anything less than a 3" shell due to the single gas port. Have you heard similar things and is there an ideal round for that gun that would be great for casual skeet?
@jimcummins10457 жыл бұрын
Learned a bunch! My 12 ga 870 pump is jamming after first shot with Estate 2 3/4 dram eq. at 1145 FPS. From what you say, this is an under powered shell and perhaps the source of the problem. Could this same ammo cause insufficient inertia (failing to cock the hammer) and resulting in the second barrel of my 12 ga o/u Beretta not firing?? Thank in advance.

over the past few weeks I've wanted to start hunting here in Ireland. 12 gauge shotguns seem to be popular. if I got a 12 Gauge shotgun, would the Estate Heavy game load (12 Gauge, 2 3/4 inches, 1 1/8 oz shot, 8shot. 1255 fps) be the best option?

I have a Mossberg 500 and it will chamber 3" shells. Will I ruin the gun if I shoot a 3 1/2" shell out of it?
@dudleymahon66275 жыл бұрын
Very likely can damage your gun. Reason is the 3 inch chamber is longer than 3 inches to allow the crimp to open up straight. This is why the 31/2 inch shell will chamber in a 3 inch gun. The crimp from the longer shell does not have room to open completely and creates a partial bore obstruction.
