What piece of kit do you find difficult to say the name of?

PLEEEEEAAASE HELP. I've got an AT-815b and the audio level is stupid low. My gains have to be all the way up and its barely audible even with battery power and even phantom power.

Hey sorry mate, just saw this comment. Well there would be a few questions. What are you connecting the mic into? What are you trying to mic up and how far away from the mic are you? You do sometimes need lots of gain if you are a long way from the mic. As long as you have a clean mic pre-amp and you record onto something digital you should be able to boost it once it's recorded.

Hi - A great video and thank you for taking the time to do all the thorough sound tests both on and off axis. I think I agree with you when you chose the AT897 for your church. For me - as well as the sound quality, what is just as important to be is the microphones sensitivity. EG. if you take Rode microphones for example the NTG 5 requires about half the gain as the NTG4 to get the same volume output and therefore less noise if recording for example. So how did/does it compare to the rest of the bunch.

You picked the one I have, the AT 835b! I also agreed (as objectively as I possibly could) that it sounded at least as good as the best of the others and superior when stepping to the side. Great test man! Made my day :)

Just fyi, I have used it in only a few of the videos on my channel, mostly the "man on the street" ones (just in case one was to look to my vids for reference). However, I just got an "iRig Pre HD" adapter, so I am about to start using my AT 835b shotgun again with my current cameras in videos and this review made me even more excited to do so! Thanks!

Yep

Cool. Any exterior tests though? These are types of mics not ideal for interior work.

Sorry, I only ever use these mics indoors so I don't have any outdoor tests.

If I want to use AT8035 to pick up the voice from someone 6-8 feet away from the mic, would that works?
@PluggedinAV4 жыл бұрын
Hello, this depends on the situation. Yes, it would pick someone up from that distance but you would need to have a very quiet background and also some very quiet preamps as you will need to add a lot of gain. To be honest you would be asking a lot of any mic in this price point to pick up from that distance and do it well. As I say, you might be able to get away with it if you are careful but it would be tricky.

Loved part 1! Can’t wait for part 2 and sorry if jumping the gun, but would you use any of these for congregation mics to feed into an IEM mix for the band?
@PluggedinAV5 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, and yes. I will answer this question more fully in part 2 but shotguns definitely help with picking up ambient sounds / congregation for IEMs, sermon podcasts, live streams and induction loops 😀

Is this AT835b mic great for KZbin & live podcasting in your personal opinion?
@PluggedinAV3 жыл бұрын
Hey, yeah it’s a good mic. It’s very directional so it would work best for picking up one person, more difficult for picking up a group of people 👍

@@PluggedinAV I just purchase the at835b mic with out the foam windscreen on EBay! May I keep the battery in the microphone with the phantom power on Recording my KZbin videos?
@PluggedinAV3 жыл бұрын
Hey, yes you can do but remember that if you leave a battery in for a long time it can leak and corrode inside the mic. If you can use phantom power it's generally best just to use that without the battery. Only use the battery as a worst case option
