All the jokes aside, let me tell you something. Brest, where this film takes place, had a fortress. This fortress was suddenly attacked on the very first day of war. The people you see here did not surrender even after days of fighting (I look at some European countries right now). No, they fought when they did not have any guns and shell left, long after Germans were already way deep in USSR. This brave men died and fought to the last drop.
@Aries-dd3hu4 жыл бұрын
The Germans were never deep in the USSR! They didn’t even get to take one main city like Moscow or St Petersburg or anything! They only went through some sub cities left by the Russians who burnt it themselves and went to fortify their positions in a higher place! The same shit that happened with Napoleon! The difference this time the Nazi could not even get to Moscow! Whoever attack Russia , fight hard , die hard, run away like a mad dog pursued killed till the last drop!

These soldiers were caught by surprise on the first day of war, many of them weren't able to equip themselves with any weapon, their unit was surrounded. The only options they had were to become german prisoners or to try to break through the surrounding forces. They chose the latter (the film is mostly about that). Despite the fact, that the chance of killing an enemy soldier with a knife, a small showel, a brick or a chair is less than 1%, it must be taken.

Perspective) - T-34 - Unknown Soldier (Finnish vs Russian) - Panfilovs 28 Men - My Way (Various theatres) Western Front: - A Bridge too Far (#1 choice) - The Bridge at Remagen - The Battle of Neretva (Hard to find, watch on KZbin if anything) - Saving Private Ryan (of course) I would not recommend 2013 Stalingrad, waste of time, a few epic shots but story is no good, might as well watc all cool scenes on youtube. Okay, learn something today. Brest, where the film takes place, was attacked by surprise in the very first days of war. They fought so hard and for so long, that Germans were already deep into the country. Fighters of the fortress did not have any new supplies, they were cut off. So yes, in the end, they were fighting with everything they could find. Even Germans were fucking astonished by how long the whole siege took place. Those men died but never surrendered (at least to the very very end).

Some people say “why did they use chairs, small table or metal bar to fight?” Well when the germans entered Brestkaya Krepost they were dressed as a soviet officer clothings so they were unaware that the attack will happen soon. Also they ran out of ammo, food, and water which make this film very sad and brilliant. And yes this film and the characters are based on true story.

@@callmetoasty2129 No, they didn't, and to me this clumsy putinist propaganda does not Pay them proper homage. The guys at Brest held off bravely, no doubt, but their leadership was horrendous. The Brest fortress was a huge complex, and in most of these situations defenders died heroically but miserably, surrounded, starved, outmaneouvered, flamed, shot and bombed from the distance. Anyway, main public target are Russians, if they feel good with It, let It be. The scene is good enough to convey some merry mood but the First Days of the invasion were not like this. As a defense strategy, most authors conclude nowadays that the "no withdrawal" strategy was not so useful, same results would have been obtained sparing lives, so much that Stalin thought they would shoot him for the initial losses...I enjoyed the film anyway as I usually do with Russians films ☺️🤙

CallMe Toasty Without the Anglo American strategic bombing campaign literally diverting over 50% of Germany’s wartime production into anti aircraft weapons, the Reich would’ve been able to keep producing tanks anti tank weapons aircraft in much greater numbers. The Soviets were being pulverized even on the offensive by the Wehrmacht, and Soviet manpower was not unlimited. They would have run out of men had the Americans not opened a second front first in North Africa then Italy and then France. Attrition would’ve bled the Soviet Union white.
