In serious Dojo's, you can't get not even the 6th kyu if your zenkutsu and kokutsu dachi are this bad. This kind of mistake is tolerated in the first exam of kids that are below 12y old.

Karate is the particular marital art. Shotokan is the type (or system) of karate being done (there are others), and kanku dai is the name of the particular kata (set of moves) that he is doing.

I had the privilege and honour to train at Takushoku Diagaku, Tokyo in the 70's for a number of years. A must humbling and brutal Experience. Godan...????
