Shouer Tape Pro Review - Amazingly Frustrating

I got mine for Christmas and wasn't too crazy about them at first. After swapping the screws they sounded much better. The metal corners on the back of the tapes also scratched the inside of my ear and would become very painful after a short while. I glued small rectangles of foam to the back and now I can wear them all day. Not only did it make them more comfortable, it improved the bass response. Not in a sense that it made it more bassy, but it sort of completed it, making it more tight and controlled and rumbly. I think that also had to do with some burn in after using them for a couple of days. And I agree with you, the cable is gorgeous but doesn't sit on the ear properly. What I had done was hold a lighter for a second or two about 1.5 to 2 centimeters below where it starts to curve and then quickly bent and held where I wanted it to bend and that made a huge difference, it's so much easier to where now. Finding tips that fit was also annoying, after several tip swaps I wound up loving them with the spinfit cp100. It's a very tight squeeze and in order to get them off you have to unscrew them with the metal grill and then just replace the grill after. As far as I know no one knows anything about unit variation yet given that they're still pretty new, but I love my set. Though it was a bitch getting them configured the way I would like, I really enjoy the way these sound. Great video yo!!

Hey there! First time here, came from Intoit's channel. You mentioned all the issues I had with them when I first tried them. I put them up for sale but no one bought them. The Tanchjim Oxygen and sednaearfit light tips came a few weeks later from Linsoul and I loved the fit of the those tips. Then I had the bright idea to try the Tape Pro with those tips and it was a way better fit than before (no more sharp pain), but like you mentioned the ear hooks were still an issue. I removed the plastic on the ear hooks and they sat on my ears quite nicely. If you haven't tried the tape pros with sednaearfit light eartips, I would definitely recommend them. I'd love to hear back from you if you do. I liked your review, keep up the content. Edit: I think the lack of comfort of out the box doesn't let you enjoy the sound the tape pros produce in my opinion.

I agree with this review. The Tape Pro is not a daily driver for me, but it's still a weirdly fun listen.

Good review. Bought original tape 2 months ago and the shouty female vocals killed it. Really enjoyed the thump of the bass, felt unique. Gave them back and for now my main is thieaudio legacy 5.

Wow you really had a bad time with them lol. I also had some fit issues, but with foam, it works fine. I also really like the sound and depth staging/imaging. It's a great (given unique) iem. ....is the detail of the Blons01 really better?! I'll have to test that, can't believe it honestly. If true I'll be mad. I a/b tested the 01 with the 03, and the 03 had slightly better detail, but probably just because some more trebel...

The blon 01 seems to be subject to unit variation. The ones I had were brighter than the 03 and better extended. The bass was also more controlled on the 01. I either got a "Golden set" or there are many bad ones in the wild. For $20 it's worth trying. I will have to say that they seem to need more power than the tape pro and the bl03 to sound their best.

@@DanAndreiVladut Unit variation was a big problem for the 03s too if I remember correctly, so that's likely also a reason. The bass is definitely more controlled, which might also add to clearer trebel. Listening to the 01 again right, it really is quite good for 20$, but the tape is just better in every way imo, apart from tonality maybe, but I also quite digg that as well. Sorry you had such a terrible experience with it 😅
