Should all bib shorts have THIS???

In this video I review the 7 Mesh Cargo bib shorts that I wore to race an ultra in Rwanda. The biggest selling point for me is the soft, stretchy mesh over your belly that's ideal for those of us that get a post prandial food baby. 7 Mesh have engineered these shorts so they're compressive in the right spots but don't squish your tummy.

Don't worry about the product reviews; you come across as a very honest and reliable person. As for getting out on the bike, we've got an ice storm in the forecast for tomorrow, and there's still a lot of snow lying around. I'll probably give it a couple more weeks before checking if the bike path is clear of snow and ice. Then there's the winter kill on the bike path that needs to be swept up. I tried riding through it a few years ago, and a branch went between the spokes on my front wheel. (I was paying attention to a dog walker and her dog that was running loose.) I went over the handlebars and face-planted, cracking my helmet.

These reviews are added value for sure. Keep doing it! Would be nice if you could try to compare them with well known brands/products to make it less subjective. Not that it was very subjective, but then it would feel even more factual. Remove personal preferences if possible. Nice job, love your video's!

The thing with bibs is the whole what-to-do-when-nature-calls issue. Can you pull them down without taking the straps down (ie drop tail)?

I prefer zip pocket mtb shorts for offroad distance but if I did go side pocket Lycra I'd want deep pockets with a zip or flap.

I prefer unsponsored reviews. They're always more honest. Are you going to review any bikepacking bags or anything like that? I'm using Agu bags at the moment. Nice and cheap and seem well made.

I've just picked up some of these for£78 off sport pursuit. Love the revo waterproof shorts but very limited pockets so hoping these will solve that. Quite a few items on sale there but popular sizes going quickly

Just had a look at the men’s stuff 50 quid for the basic ones without the straps seems ok, they don’t go by waist size I had to measure my hips and thighs puts me in XS at 36in hips.. I need a belt in 30in jeans 😂

I think if they are £200 and they caused a sore on the cycle, they are a no go. I bought some cargo shorts from Cadence in the US recently and the quality was poor. Pockets were big but compared to some UK brands like Stolen Goat they had bits of thread hanging off and not very thick padding. Not sure if its just a US issue in terms of quality checks etc.

Keep it real - unsponsored reviews is what I'm keen to hear AND I'm sure there are to. Also, reviews of products that are not from the mainstream players. There is a lot of good stuff out there that doesn't get reviewed because the bike mags and their channels want the advertising revenue the mainstream provide. One brand you might want to look at is Gobik. I discovered them when I did the 312 with my daughter.

The problem with product reviews is that if you give a scathing review or even if you say something slightly negative about the product the company may end up putting you on their company's 'no-free-stuff' list. It's a fine line you walk here, and I believe many viewers know this and take your recommendations for what they're worth. I can't speak for your reviews, but for the most part I don't believe anything a presenters says about a product if they're getting the product for free, or even worse, getting paid by the company to review the products.

Always wondered why we need padding in shorts and not more padding in the saddle, if just in the saddle then surely shorts will be cheaper as no padding needed - it’s probably a padding against padding thing, but we all know how they like to sell us stuff we don’t need.

Try riding a more padded saddle without a chamois and you'll be miserable. If you have a saddle that fits well, your chamois is largely their to reduce chaffing vs providing cushioning. I use a fully carbon saddle on the velodrome because I don't need any padding on a perfectly smooth surface so long as I have a chamois. But you need both on the road if you're doing long rides

@@veganpotterthevegan when I first started riding seriously it was literally just a bit of chamois in ya shorts and a hard plastic or leather saddle. I was after a more scientific answer than just best guess.
