Amazing song as are most of The Bee Gees’ songs.Their voices together or individually are beyond comparison…other worldly! Barry and the boys wrote simply fantastic music from happy to sad to tender to loving…all of it.

I saw an interview yesterday where they had written them to record in Paris where they were working on the album when they got the the call and was asked to write for the low budget film and gave them the plot of the film and they said they didn't have time to write but they have some songs they could see if they liked them. They used everyone they the brothers played for them. The brothers took a week to put the final touches on them and didn't hear them again until the premiere. I think it's so cool. And none of them ever learned to read music.

You may of may not have noticed that their youngest brother, Andy Gibb, joined his brothers in this video. A rarity, since they long denied him to join the Bee Gees because they wanted him to have his own career (even though they helped produce and sang on his solo album, Shadow Dancing). As for their pre-disco stuff, I still suggest Fanny (Be Tender With My Love), Words, Holiday and they did a "duet" with Samantha Sang in 1994 (obviously, post-disco) which became a hit, Emotions.

If not previously mentioned... I believe the video of a concert or TV appearance includes their much younger brother, Andy. He became a Teen Idol and big star on his own. Unfortunately, by the time he was 35, drugs, and depression... despite rehab stints and apparent recovery... had affected his health and he died of a heart condition. The Brothers were planning to include him permanently into the Bee Gee's. It was quite tragic. Also, that echo effect, I believe, is done electronically. If not, it would be a hell of an effect vocally!! Finally... this Disco Era almost overwhelmed EVERYthing else pop-music wise for quite a few years. It WAS great dance music, that's for sure!! Thanks for revisiting a Fun Time in many of our lives. Carry On, Dani !!!

The Bee Gees’ sound evolved from pop to R&B in what became the disco music era, but it was their falsetto that was their unmistakable trademark… and it came about by accident many years into their career. In the HBO documentary “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart,” surviving Bee Gee, Barry Gibb, takes viewers inside the studio, showing archival footage performing with his brothers Maurice and Robin and honing their signature sound. In 1975, the band took the advice of veteran rocker Eric Clapton and went down to Miami to record their first album since the split at Criteria Studios in 1969. “I thought those guys were really an R&B band that hadn’t really worked that out yet, and I thought, man, this would be so good if they could pick up on what’s going on in America,” Clapton said. Also Read: The Bee Gees' Disco Classic 'Stayin' Alive' Didn't Start Out as a Dance Tune It was in Miami that the Bee Gees began experimenting with new sounds, piggybacking on the influence of R&B and shows like “Soul Train.” While recording “Nights on Broadway,” producer Arif Mardin asked that someone harmonize while screaming in the background, Maurice remembered. That was the first time Barry sang falsetto. “I was thinking, my god, where is this coming from? I can do this. My whole life I never knew I could do this,” Barry joked. “Everybody’s giving me credit,” Mardin said in the film. “No, he was singing it. I said, ‘Keep on doing it.'” The band soon embraced disco and dance music, making use of Barry’s falsetto, which he wields with almost astonishing ease. “We found another sound; we found a new sound. I came up with a lot of new ideas to suit the falsetto,” Barry remembered. “Everybody was saying the same thing: ‘Do that falsetto again, do that falsetto again.’ It was fine for me; I was having a ball.”

Andy Gibb is singing on Maurice's mic just right of Barry (best view in this vid is @2:49, @4:30 @4:36 @4:53). He was at least 10 years younger than the twins and 13 years younger than Barry, but he only sang occasionally with his brothers. So when you talk about them being an "echo" of one another, take in to factor that in this version, Andy is in there harmonizing with them OUCH! He had a meteoric single's career and was quite the heart throb. Unfortunately, he fell to drugs, so his meteor faded quickly. If anyone could have given him reason to dump drugs it would have been his girlfriend, Victoria Principal whom he dated until she couldn't handle his drug use.

The Bee Gees great musical careers can be broken down into 2 parts. Part 1 was the mid-1960s through the early-1970s. At that time period, their music was light, mellow, pop/rock. Part 2 was 1975-1980. That was when they changed their musical style with Barry Gibb singing falsetto and embracing the disco music craze that had emerged. Part 1 they became major musical stars and Part 2 they became legends that defined an era. There are still many more great Bee Gees songs from the disco era for you to react to that other commenters have already listed. Also, other commenters have done a great job listing all of the early Bee Gees songs for you to react to. I would recommend you start with the song "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart." That song went to #1 on the pop charts and really defined their early sound. It is a heart-breaking, beautiful, song and I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Dani, watch the new Bee Gees documentary movie that just came out. It was fantastic and will give you perspective on where and how their sound came to be. They went through this whole reinvention of themselves and their music to stay and become more relevant. It was a clean break as they moved to Miami to record new music in 1976, and they got a new label, new band members with existing pedigree, and a then famous R&B producer to give them new direction. And it was because of a push from him at the guys to yell something into the mic to fill the song background that Barry discovered his falsetto. Their new sound, along with the eventual Saturday Night Fever, became the hallmark of the disco era.

Fun fact. John Travolta wasn’t dancing to the Bee Gees in this clip or the entire movie Saturday Night Fever, he was dancing to Stevie Wonder. The Bee Gees involvement didn’t start until the film was in post production. All they were given was brief concept and rough script to write a whole soundtrack for. Ended up being the best selling movie soundtrack of all time.

This would be from the Saturday Night Fever movie and album. The song that slung Jon Travolta, his famous dance and the point to the sky dance move that's still used to this day at every dance club and the BeeGees on the map and super stardom, it took only 3 days of the BeeGees writing to come up with this whole album. The BeeGees little brother Andy Gibb sang on this song but was a star himself as a solo career. Sadly the two brothers not the lead singer Barry have passed RIP and Andy Gibb passed back back in the 80's from a drug overdose which the 3 older brothers never got over. I was a professional dancer as a kid back in the 70's and would win dance club dance off's to this song same dance as your watching in clubs that looked just like this. There will never be an Era like this again nothing but love amd true hearts! Great react guys 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Hey Dani , Sorry it’s 2 AM and Ive been packing going through stuff all day to get ready for the floors to be done. I found a 1956 Elvis hat that was sold in stores and on the tag is that picture I told you I had of Elvis from I believe 1956 which is a very known picture that is autographed by Elvis. just seen you reacted to you should be dancing by The Bee Gees. Love the song , the movie and of course The Bee Gees. One thing I didn’t remember was that their brother Andy was singing on this song with them. Oh yeah your reaction was pretty good too 😂😂. 🔥🔥🔥 as always. Maybe I won’t be so late for the next video.

It's nice, though unusual. to see youngest brother, Andy, with the the other three we always see together: Eldest Barry singing lead and fraternal twins Robin and Maurice.

The first BeeGees hit I remember was "the lights all went down in massachusetts" with Robin Gibb as the main singer, he had a very unusual voice after they returned to UK they wrote it and straight into number 1 it went. They also wrote a lot of music and number 1s for others like "dion Warwicks "heartbreaker". Dion didn't want to do it but her label told her do it or well let you go, it was an amazing job she did of hit.

Dani, I don’t think you’re born in the wrong era. On the contrary, to put in perspective, you are blessed to enjoy music both from bygone eras like the Bee Gees, and music from contemporary era. Digital technology has helped tremendously in this

I mentioned to some young people that John Travolta was known for dancing in a lot of his movies. They said, "that fat old guy ?" So I had to show them the video of that whole dance scene.

I love the Bee Gees. You should be dancing Dani - I bet you are a great and fun dancer. My favorites are Elvis, The Bee Gees, Franki Vali and the Four Seasons (I also love hearing the Jersey Boys singing the songs of the Four Seasons - it would be great for you to compare the two. Of course another top fun favorite of mine is Abba and "Dancing Queen."

The first time the falsetto showed up in the Bee Gees music was on the song "Nights on Broadway". Nice to see you again Dani :)

Hi Dani I live in Manchester UK and am a 20 minute walk from Keppell Road , Chorlton , Manchester UK when the Gibb Brothers lived there in the late 1950s there's now a funeral home that used to be a Cinema where the Gibb Brothers performed also Oswald Street primary school that they attended that is still there to this day Andy was married to American Actress Victoria Principal and while being interviewed on the Phil Donahue T.V show the presenter asked if he was born in London ? Andy corrected him in a flash saying " No I was born in Manchester north of England UK" I believe Robin had the best voice of all the brothers check out Saved by the bell he wrote and performed in (1969) before any of the Disco hits came out . I hope this helps you and keep up the Excellent work Dani godbless to you and your family during these testing time's ❤️🌹

Jive Talkin, Night on Broadway, and Fanny Be Tender, Run to Me, and a later song Alone is good too... They sang for so long and have so many different sounds. They are so much fun! Earlier songs... Massachusetts, I Started a Joke, Lonely Days, Words, How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, New Your Mining Disaster 1941.

The Bee Gees are far more than their Disco-era music, but, damn, it was wonderful stuff! Definitely takes me back to hearing their tunes on the radio when I was young.
