I disagree to a certain degree. A lot of fathers disappear or show no interest in the children- that leads to the fear of giving them to someone who is not present and will pawn them off on someone else anyway when they can just stay with their mom. In the past when women didn’t have the same opportunities or were homemakers and didn’t have the income U could see paying child support being an issue, but nowadays, I do not see it being an issue for a woman to pay child support.

The father should be given 2 options. They stay with mom, but their last name changes to her maiden name, or he can take them all. More women need to start this trend. Love it

i love the idea of the children taking the mother's name in the event of separation. i'm all for children taking the mother's name from birth anyway. i think women should stop taking men's last name period. we all know the origins in which women were forced to do this in the first place. we were being EXCHANGED from our father to our husband. an exchange of goods. we need to dead this tradition ASAP.

@@hardcandy71287 the thing is traditionally children have ALWAYS taken their mother's name. It's because she took her husband's name the reason why the children and the husband share names. Nowadays unmarried mothers give her children their father's name which is a huge NO NO.

my parents divorced 4 years after I was born and like right after having my brother and I feel like I wouldn't have been happier with only my dad. I just feel like I would've been happier with him in my life more than he actually was. & now that i have two toddlers its the same feeling because I picked the wrong father for my children thinking "Oh marriage doesnt guarantee anything" and still picked the wrong one ofcourse and it bothers me for real. Thanks for watching. It’s not about being put on child support. As far as I’m concerned court ordered child support should only be necessary if a parent refuses to contribute. This is more about men being majority care takers of their children when a relationship ends.

They need their dads too but when relationships end mom is usually the one with most responsibilities. To end the single mom issue some are saying more moms should give the kids to dad. Note a child is more likely to end up in poverty if they are in a single mom household.
