Halloween is the day before All Saints Day, when all the saints who normally watch over us have their big annual convention. So the night before they're all busy practicing their speeches, packing their clothes, and charging their I-Phones and whatnot, and they're too busy to pay attention. The Devil knows this, and takes this opportunity to fly around the world and check on his demons. He flys over your town and looks to see if his demons are on the job, tempting humans toward sinful behavior, and if he has enough of them stationed there. Demons are quite lazy and would rather sit around playing video games than doing the hard work of corrupting good people, so if the Devil flies over your area and does not see them on the job - he will stop to reprimand them, telling them to get busy making trouble, or worse - he may decide to add more! People figured this out a long time ago, so they came up with a plan to trick the Devil. Children are roughly the size of demons (and sometimes have similar dispositions) so the plan was to dress up the children in demon costumes and get them wandering in the streets. On Halloween, when the devil flies over (around dusk, when most demons start their shift) he looks down and sees the little fake demons wandering the streets and is fooled - he assumes he has enough troublemakers here - and flys on to the next town. It was a good plan - but the kids didn't like it. "Why do I have to wear this? I'm tired of walking around! This is boring!" How did we get the children to cooperate, to help us fool the Devil? CANDY.

Yes, just keep the baby sacrifices at a minimum.

The relationship between Samhein (sow in) and halloween is greatly exaggerated. Samhein had been dead for centuries. We can and should celebrate it as it once was. It is extremely antisatan and entirely Christian.

Agreed, the more I research, the more this seems to be the case.

@BiblePaladin God bless. I was worried starting this was going to be all surface level easily debunked stuff. But it was handled very well, my quip aside
