I remember when I got saved (asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart and be Lord over my life) back in November 2015. The very next morning as I was brushing my teeth I heard a voice but it was so soft and faint I stopped and said "huh", then proceeded to brush my teeth, for the second time I heard a voice saying something but I still didn't catch it, I proceeded. Then I heard the voice more loud and clear on the 3rd time. It said "take it out". Then I instantly knew what He meant. God was saying that I should take my tongue ring out. And so I did. 🙂 Just thought I'd share this testimony that my heart will forever cherish. ❤

@Emapten I was in high school and most girls were getting it. I wanted to fit in and be considered "cool" as well. I did it without my parents' consent, and they were not happy about it. Back then, I never knew about "spiritual consequences" and ways that u can open yourself up to evil spirits and how it affects your life I the natural. I just thought it was the coolest and most in thing to do. Also, I thought guys may find it attractive as well.. I was young and ignorant :)

i think we are missing the point here. the whole idea should be, "why are you doing it or why does it need to be done?" God knows the heart. and why we are doing this. i believe we should not alter our bodies, temples.
@rayb632 жыл бұрын
Why not? Your body belongs to you and no one else. Why can't you alter it how you see fit?
@timwhite45152 жыл бұрын
@@rayb63 i am looking at this from a biblical view point. The Bible says that it's not your body. If you are a follower of Christ, our body is His temple and you are not your own. Obviously, it is your choice to do as you please, however again from a Biblical perspective we do not belong to ourselves.

Live your life. If God is fair, he won't give a darn about wether or wether not you have a piercing. If that would be important, God would not be fair, not loving and pretty petty. You have to realize what the importance is of culture on scriptures. The Israelites as a people have always wanted to seperate themselves from other people throughout the Bible. One way to do that is to not do what other people did. Not eating pork (hittites), no bodymarking (egyptians), cutting the foreskin, leaving the bangs at the temples of your head, not wearing two different types of fabric on top of eachother,... Many things are based on their current culture and enviremont. It has nothing to do with God saying they could or couldn't do this or that. The ten commandments are the only things given directly from God, everything else is just how they as a people decided to live because it seemed good at the time for them. Jesus never said any of those things and his message was in part about revising the old laws. This extreme focus on wether christians should or should not wear earrings or tattoos is entirely about what people like to see today and what they are comfortable with. This pastor f.e. makes it abundantly clear he is biased and does not like the sight of earrings on men, but he likes it on women. It screams toxic masculinity and personal preference. Ofcourse he's going to mention everything he doesn't like, "demonic" to instill fear, without a solid basis. It's such a typical excuse. This pastor is a bigot. Look how overweight he is while saying that a person reflects their maker, God. You think God is fat? He's cutting his hair is he not? Piercings have been around for millenia, not only in India, but everywhere in the world. Men were the first ones to wear earrings as far as we know. This pastor draws all the wrong conclusions and making the wrong links. I hate this type of bigotry, it's too damaging because they reach out and his people believe it.

Do we say something is a sin because of a people? Or because God condemns it. Rebecca was given jewelry. Joseph was given a ring. What it represents is what matters. If your Jewelry is a form of idol worship or dedicated to idols then it's a sin. Like some jewelry, beads given at cult initiations or traditional associations where there worship other gods.

The decision of getting a piercing is more of a personal conscience decision; are you uncomfortable with it or do you think the Holy Spirit might be stopping you specifically from getting one. Generally, it isn't a sin, so it can be permissible, but your personal convictions might get in the way of it. I'd just suggest not getting one for the time being; I don't understand the hype around them, to be honest.

"I think earrings are beautiful on women." The first sentence and the way he says it, sets the tone of bias, which gets pretty much confirmed throughout the rest of the answer. What he actually is saying is that he doesn't like to see earrings on men and attempts to (mis)use the Bible for that. Very nice, pastor Bigot. Biblically speaking I dissagree, historically speaking I dissagree, reality-wise speaking I dissagree.
