In the official season preview, Dubas said about EK 65 that he showed exactly why you acquire a player of his caliber at the end of last season! Let this sink in! On the second Rangers goal, EK65 played the pass to the high slot to Eller who was already under pressure from Panarin. It is important that EK65, as a defender, was the most forward Pens player in the situation playing the pass from behind the Rangers goal line! Of course, Pettersson played the defensive situation badly and Jary (who had otherwise a pretty good game) didn't look good. But Jary had to not only play the shooter but also the 2nd (Trocheck) forward waiting for a tip-in just beside his left post. EK65 skated back towards his goal but was always something like 30 meters behind the situation being completely useless. He put in such a great effort that he stopped skating on the RED LINE gliding towards his own goal. This is just an "I don't give a sh...t" attitude and Pulijarvi showed his disappointment about the guy who created the turnover with his bad pass... Letang wasn't much better losing the inside position on the first goal missing taking out the stick of the Rangers player in the slot. If you have two top defenders who are that slow - you will be chasing the puck for the whole game. In Switzerland we have glaciers that move faster than EK65.... I would not be surprised if he was bought out before the season ends.

Sidney Crosby either wants to be like his idol Steve Yzerman and play for one team his whole career, or wants to stay with the Penguins long enough to break all of Lemieux's franchise scoring records. Or maybe he has family in Pittsburgh (he has always kept his private life very private so maybe he has family roots in Pittsburgh). These are the only explanations for him wanting to stay with the Penguins. He can't honestly think the Penguins have any chance at contending ever again during his career. They are at the beginning of a very long and very painful rebuild.

Love this take! I'm sure if Sid could really speak freely... he'd say as long as the Pens aren't a laughingstock... he'll stay! Even if they miss the playoffs... he'll stick around in my mind!! I dunno where this narrative of Sid "chasing" a last Cup came from... but dude's already won everything there is to Win... so what's wrong with just wanting to wanting to be "Comfortably Elite" like he was last year? He's got 3 Cups... which also means that he's had 16 Seasons of NOT Winning... so in the Grand Scheme of things... what's an additional 3-4 Seasons of not Winning?

@@biggbluh Fans of Crosby don't want to see him waste the last few years of his career playing for a non-contender. Fans of Crosby want to see him end his career on a high-note, perhaps with winning another Stanley Cup.

IF Crosby is serious about winning another cup, he has to leave Pittsburg. No one will ever blame him. He’s won 3 with 1 team, so 1 more with a different team wouldn’t affect anything.
