The sad ironic thing about all this is that one day because of all the cash a Jake Paul like figure could leapfrog genuine contenders to some sort of title shot and that'd be farce of all farces.

Frank 💯 agree with you. It's a total money-making freak show. Against a pro boxer under boxing rules just beyond stupid. It's as bad as the Paul vs. Tyson match totally rigged. What do you think, Frank? As always, much respect regards and respect from Canada David B. BTW way, I checked out your Instagram as well fantastic! Keep staying real Frank, all the best to you and your family!

I’m more of an MMA than boxing fan, but I remember some of the British boxers from when I was growing up. I was recently watching Japanese events from the 2000s and was very surprised to see Matt Skelton make his way to the ring in an MMA match against an absolutely huge American wrestler. Needless to say, it did not end well for Skelton.

Great channel! I have to respectfully disagree, to ban these fights altogether is extreme. What right have we to tell a professional fighter they cannot fight anyone for money? It’s a short career, grab all the cash you can I say. Don’t forget, Ngannou vs Fury was competitive!

Fair point re the money, but the advantage all lie with the boxers.

If they want a licence, and without a licence you don’t get event insurance, then the authorities have every right. But they don’t care much about boxers or the sport, hence they sanction freak shows. What right does the NFL have to mandate benching players after concussions? Every right. The players/fighters would play/box on but sometimes their own welfare needs to be taken out of their hands.

@@FranksNobleArt of course but, the same would be true if a boxer crossed over to MMA (case in point James Toney vs Randy Couture). Is a competency mismatch a good enough reason to ban the event? Most boxing matches are mismatches these days so it seems odd to ban cross over events on this basis, given that boxing promoters don’t even apply this principle to their own sport!

Money money money, must be funny in a rich mans world. These so called boxing freak shows will only tarnish boxing as a pure fighting art! I agree frank.😊

Can't fault cross training. MMA and Thai boxing are a big contribution to martial arts. A lot of men from the 1920s got into boxing as part of youth culture for self defence and the local gangs they were in. Both my grandads had silk scarfs that represented the local clubs they belonged to at 15yo. lots of rivalry with the post code gangs, even in the 1930s. So, boxing wasn't just about gentlemanly competition. it was part of youth gang culture and a self defence.

I respectfully disagree. While I am not really a fan of crossover fights, I'm not in favor of curtailing their livelihood. This being said, I believe such bouts should perhaps be held under a different categorical designation like exhibition fights are, and perhaps not count towards official boxing records of either fighter, and/or the rankings of the pro-boxer. Perhaps the most severe policy I would be willing to accept is that it should perhaps not be allowed for boxers to put up their championship belts vs. newcoming entrants from other combat sports disciplines.

The belts are never available in those circumstances.

What you said is fair, but I personally have mixed feelings about this stuff and so slightly disagree. If boxers want to fight athletes from other disciplines thats up to them and more organisations should set up 'special/mixed rules fights', not fights where one person is at an obvious disadvantage. The Asian martial arts organisation 'One Championship' which primarily hosts mma, kickboxing, muay thai and grappling only bouts (even boxing once), once hosted a special rules fight; this fight was between one of the elite level muay thai fighters right now 'Rodtang' and one of the greatest fighters (goats) to come out of mma 'Demetrious Johnson'. It was a four round special rules fight in which the rounds would alternate between mma and muay thai rules. Overall no one was majorly dissatisfied with the fight. Special rules fights would be of interest to many fight fans and athletes/fighters that like to challenge themselves, including boxers who may have interest in other forms of combat or previous experience in them. Technically alot of kickboxers do this when they train or spar switching between boxing/punching only then using punches and kicks. At the same time boxers are probably the most vulnerable to special rules fights because they're so skilled in a limited ruleset that does not teach defense against leg kicks, knees or elbows and the body conditioning needed against those strikes. Its all about the money and if enough fight fans want such at the end of the day. Combat sports are entertainment 'first' even if I think some fights are of no interest or a simply crap. P.s In my observation Japanese kickboxers are probably some the best fighters that have the ability (skill) to switch/ transition to pure boxing; and they do.

Yes thing is if you are from a different art , you might have multiple weapons to apply so you range and body position might change slightly the way you close the gap , what your structure is like even what targets you attack , if you put gloves on a traditional kung fu guy he's lost a lot of his weapon's and his training is all about deploying those weapon's and then hes fighting some one who's training by rounds from day one instead of short bursts of ferocious energy . Some styles use wight rolling and coiling movements from the waist rather than torque it doesn't matter both are really good and get the job done but putting it in a boxing ring under boxing rules with a professional is like going to the dentist to get your eyes tested

Leave Boxing alone. If a fighter wants to fight different styles get involved in another association...WAKO was certainly one where martial artists could fight each other wether from karate or tae kwon do. The history of boxing should be part of our heritage not turned into a circus. If we do not stop and prevent this then give it two decades on and Boxing will have lost its purity and essence...we might as well go and have a no rules, bare knuckle fight in a field. Greed is a terrible thing. Look at PED's now in sport...our sport boxing. LEAVE BOXING ALONE
@FranksNobleArt18 күн бұрын
Thank you for your contribution but you seem to be saying boxers should be allowed to take part in such fights while you also say boxing shouldn't be turned into a circus. Aren't these fights doing just that?
@TrainwellBoxing18 күн бұрын
@FranksNobleArt if this is one meant for me what I am saying is simple. If you are a pro or amateur boxer then stay under this umbrella. There are many other fighting associations whereby you can fight different styles.if your intention is that leave boxing and go with the other

Ngannou did great vs Fury and they both made good money. Anderson Silva beat Chavez jr. I think crossover fights are great.

Hey Frank. You mentioned Francis vs Joshua but I'm curious what you think about Francis vs Fury. That's a fight that certainly never felt like a farce. In fact, I think the commonly held opinion is that Fury lost that fight.
@FranksNobleArt12 күн бұрын
I don't agree Tyson lost the fight. I thought he took it too lightly, though. He was shocked by the heavy hit he took and I think his fitness levels were questionable. Nganou, in my view, didn't do enough to win. Thank you for your comment.
