There's a land hoarding tax (not sure it includes a dereliction tax) due to come into force on 4th January 2024 at 3%. All the big land owners are trying to get around it by rezoning from residential back to agricultural. Worth looking up, it'll be interesting to see if they will find a loophole or start selling up.

A lot of these buildings are derelict due to disputes between over inheritance. These disputes reach an impasse and the building goes into ruin as no one wants to pay upkeep on a building they may not be the eventual owner of. The other thing is a lot of these buildings have no owner. Nobody knows who actually owns it due to the apparent owner dying or living abroad for decades

Give these owners financial incentives to house more migrants and refugees. That will solve the housing crisis

That would make too much sense, better to put them in fancy hotels and holiday homes

If a property is left vacant it should be maintained. If it falls into disrepair a fine should be imposed if its found that the owner has funds to maintain it. After five year's if not maintained or sold then a CPO. 👍☘️
