The NBA shot-desert problem is REAL. Could 3-point DUNKS save us?

No, because teams are still getting to the rim. Dunks were up an average of 100 per team last season compared to 20 years ago. The mid range shot is what’s being cut out. I personally don’t think there’s anything wrong with shooting a bunch of 3’s. Is it so much more entertaining to watch someone shoot a midrange pull up?

Nah, Tom's idea is terrible, because it disincentivize the most exciting plays in the NBA, which are plays at the rim and in the paint. The product becomes less entertaining to the casual audience. Every NBA highlight is probably 30-40% fast-breaks, imagine if all of them are just mid-range stop and pops because it's worth more to take a foul line jumper rather an alley oop dunk. That's half the highlights, gone. Highlight are increasingly the way casual fans consume the NBA, and what Tom proposes would kill it

keep in mind the historical issue was the huge advantage taller players had. the 3 pointer neutralized that to a huge extent. but the 3 is worth so much more, it’s completely changed the game. now, you rarely see younger players with low post moves, despite their effectiveness, because they eat too much clock

people in the U.S. are tripping hard, but i guess they got no choice. The dunks are not the problem, nor are the 3s. there are more dunks then ever (becuase of the 3s). THE PROBLEM IS THAT YOU CANT WATCH THE GAME BECAUSE OF THE COMMERCIALS. but that will never change in the U.S. So be pleasantly surprised when you get watch the olimpycs every time and call it a day
